Ozz 7 #1 Posted May 16, 2024 Hi guys and gals, new guy here. I just bought a 1985 312-8 that is missing the knob on the shifter. I would like to install a knob but do not know the thread pitch. Any help would be much appreciated.
Pullstart 64,471 #2 Posted May 16, 2024 I BELIEVE it is just a standard 5/16” course thread. I just stuck a knob on one of my tractors a couple days ago. It is standard and 3/8”-16 was too big.

Search for "Female Tapered Knob - 1 5/8 Dia., 3/8-16 Thread Oval/Tapered Plastic Phenolic Knob Brass Insert. Black Plastic Knob with Threaded Insert" in amazon, scroll down and you will see some that should work. Only $4 by the way.

So, now I am wondering if all H/Ls are 5/16 and all 1-3s are 3/8 ??? Anyone have them both off?
