Interesting that the rubber latches are mounted inside the hood on the Workhorse, but outside the hood on my C-105... I like yours better. Cleaner and less "in the way"...

My 310, 312, and 520 are all inside.     You do have to hold them out as you close the hood.

Yes, especially the 520.

The rubber latch seems to want to default to the inside if you don't hold it.

However, they do give you something to hold onto to pull the hood down.

My 92 312 and 87 308 are also rubber latches on the inside of the hood like @cleat’s Workhorse.

The 300/400 series use the same hood.  On my machines I take a piece of old seat edge trim and install it on the upper dash so it cushions the hood when it closes.

I used a piece of old but still good weather stripping on both of mine. It seems to work pretty well.

I normally do something like that as well.

With this one I went a different route and glued a piece of rubber gasket material to the bottom of the hood.

Tractor would not look anywhere as good without these great decals.

I figure this tractor now deserves a proper key.

 

There is no key fob because it would hang right in front of the fuel gauge.

Jacked up back of tractor so a rear wheel can spin free.

Started engine and let it warm up.

Verified charge voltage at 14.5 with lights on or off.

Idle speed is 1200 and full throttle is 3330 RPM so that is good for now.

 

Set motion control eccentric cam sot rear wheel is stationary with foot control in it's automatic self centering position.

 

Did final bolting of motion control rod as it's length is perfect.

 

Set height of foot control pedal by verifying that at full reverse the pedal is just touching the foot rest by adjusting the rod end,

 

Rod end set and locked into position on the foot control.

 

If we get a thaw sometime and there is some driveway showing then I will take it out for a cruise around.

So if you’re finished, then I’m going to tell you the same thing Cecil Pond told me when he signed the C-121 Automatic that I had just restored. He said “It didn’t look this good when it left the factory!” I couldn’t get the smile off my face for days!

I had to wait 2 months but finally the driveway melted off and it was just below freezing this morning so it is nice and hard.

Got the GT1600 out  and drove it around the driveway for a while.

It drives nice and straight and runs well.

 

The briggs definitely sounds different than the Onan's I am used to but it does run smooth.

It started right up after sitting for 2 months so the china carb and fuel pump assembly seems to work well.

 

Other than a possible front wheel upgrade to 8" I am calling this one complete.

Time to start on the next one.
