Speed control cam assembly ready to install.

This is for a foot control so entire setup is designed to have absolutely no friction and rides on teflon washers.

Motion control cam and foot control lever ready to install.

Motion control cam with foot control lever installed.

The lever center hole has been drilled oversize and a lower bolt added.

This is a modification to Matt's original design so lever pivots on the cams nylon bushings without actually touching the rod.

The upper bolt is temporary until the motion control rod is installed.

Reading the service manual for the Work Horse I came across this and realized I have never lubricated the control rod on any of my Wheel Horses.

35821250_Motioncontrolrodlubrication.jpeg.2e68a9683ec458bcba6b6d762019d9d0.jpeg

Well, I decided to pull the control rod back off of this Work Horse for lubrication.

I measured the rod before disassembly with large vernier calipers (no battery installed, just locked in at the same length).

I also measured the exposed threads on each end of the rod to better center the rod during reassembly.

Rod ends were then removed.

1086968981_Rodlengthmeasuredbeforedisassembly.JPG.0c99a174da700d631986fd8293aef05a.JPG+

1333052027_Controlrodendsremoved.JPG.54bcde65ebe2354df6bc368ecf3de0c7.JPG

I used this grease gun with the needle tip to grease the rod ends.

Grease gun is loaded with full synthetic Mobil Mobilith EP220 grease.

1826095928_Greasegunused.JPG.464477e096d958605796454fc1389066.JPG

Rod ends greased and re-installed and set to correct length.

Some grease did squirt out from around balls during reassembly so they are well greased.

Rod has equal number of exposed threads on each end.

Steering shim washers and cotter pin ready to install.

Shim washers are of varying thicknesses.

Cotter pin is 3/16x1" (Manual calls for 3/16x1-1/4 but I don't think it needs to be that long).

Back plate assembly and alternator stator ready to install.

This is the 16/10A alternator which is an upgrade for my engine that had the 3A unregulated dual circuit alternator originally.

Because I have the small magnets in the flywheel I get the 10A rating, not 16A but still a big upgrade.

Not that I have a big current draw in this tractor but it may not get used a lot so faster battery charging will be the primary reason for the upgrade.
