cleat 6,878 #255 Posted November 28, 2024 Brake pivot ready to install. You will notice a yellow shim spacer on the bushing. I punched that out of plastic shim stock to take all slop out of the pivot but still allow it to rotate freely. A grade 5 bolt was used instead of stainless steel because I figured strength was more important than looks for this. Brake pivot installed.

Note the parts manual says to use 1" bolt but I installed a 1-1/4" since there was plenty of depth available in the shaft for it. Brake drum installed. The factory bushings are very short but these 0.5" long ones fit without issue. Brake.pdf 2

They are prone to keeping a little air in them and can have quite a squeal until the bubble gets worked out. My 523 uses that valve and it still squeals a little. Not as bad as when I first hooked it up, but it’s still there.

cleat 6,878 #268 Posted November 30, 2024 I have never had an issue with any of my 520's making any noise. Now leaking a bit yes. Hopefully the new O rings will help with that. If you are talking the relief valve sound when the cylinder hits the end if it's stroke then yes it might make some noise. The relief valve on my larger tractor is quite loud with this valve.

They came on later 520's Whenever I would see one for sale I would grab it. I have enough now but unfortunately no spares. Easy to make a new pin and even the welded in pin isn't too hard to replace if you know someone with a welder.
