Beap52 809 #1 Posted May 11 I've noticed when using shop vac to vacuum water that the filter gets wet. I ruined one vacuum because the water was pulled into the motor. Today I had to pull our toilet so I used the shop vac to draw the water out of bowel and tank. I made a diffuser to direct the water downwards. The filter only had a few drops of water on it.
8ntruck 6,998 #2 Posted May 11 Good idea. Would be a great 3d printer project - if one is available.
Lee1977 6,655 #3 Posted May 11 I believe my Shop Vacuum has a deflector built on the inlet. It angled about 30 degrees to shoot around the tub.
wh500special 2,168 #4 Posted May 11 Excellent idea. However, you can just remove the filter before using the vacuum as a wet vac. There’s not gonna be much dust in a water slurry. Steve
wallfish 16,994 #5 Posted May 11 Not supposed to have the filter in place when vacuuming water. Remove it. Make sure the float valve under the vac head inlet can move and slide easily when sucking up a lot of water, it moves up when it fills and shuts off the inlet to the vac head protecting it. It will not work properly with a filter in place! We vac water, dirt and dust every single day for concrete core drilling and abuse shop vacs pretty hard.
