JimSraj 432 #1 Posted May 6 The brake pedal on my, fairly new to me, 1993 310-8 flops back really far. So far in fact that the foot rest is bent down and the pedal is pretty far beyond the top of the arc back toward the rear of the tractor. There doesn’t appear to be any adjustment in the linkage except for at the brake band. Best I can tell is that won’t change anything for the pedal position. The ‘91 312-8 foot rest is slightly bent as well but nothing like the 310. I can see the spring on the brake lock and it appears to be working and in the position it is supposed to be. Is the foot rest meant to be the pedal stop on the 300 series or am I missing something?
midpack 890 #2 Posted May 6 It's not the greatest picture, but see the mark on the footrest where the attach point for the brake rod rests to stop it from going too far back? I think you can adjust the collar that holds the pedal on IIRC, or maybe adjust the footrest location
peter lena 8,716 #3 Posted May 6 @JimSraj would get an enhanced look at the total INTENDED function of this , typically , rusty , sloppy , hang ups make it , a problem . went after every point on linkages , added washers , improved spring draw , verify how things work . look up a picture detailing of your model , for help , pete

Ed Kennell 38,598 #5 Posted May 6 The brake pedal on my 310-8 does not contact the foot rest. It only has about 2" of total movement. Full up released Full down and locked
87 416-8 horse 420 #6 Posted May 6 (edited) I had something similar happen to my 416-8. If you loosen the clamps that hold the foot rest on you might be able to slide it in a bit. Also if you have access to a welder then bend the footrest back so it’s flat and weld in a little piece of flat bar the strengthen were the pedal hits. Ed Kennell 38,598 #7 Posted May 6 I need to go see if I can determine what stops mine in the up position.
Ed Kennell 38,598 #8 Posted May 6 OK, looking down thru the shifter slot in the tunnel cover, I see a 1" long piece of 3/4x3/4 angle bolted there that acts as a stop when the lower end of the parking brake lever that is welded to the cross shaft makes contact. I had to remove the cover plate to get a picture, but it appears using a socket and long extension, you could loosen the one bolt and change the position of the angle to adjust the up position of the brake pedal. Don't know if this was WH factory or a dealer or PO upgrade, but it is clearly a brake pedal stop. The bolt that has to be loosened to adjust the stop position. I was just about to fab a piece of angle to bolt up under the footrest as an added support for the pedal dropping onto it. I’ll look into what you have shown here first. JimSraj 432 #10 Posted May 7 Thanks for the idea Ed. They were not original parts so a PO must have done it on yours. As you can see I’ve installed a similar stop in my 310 and it does the job. Pedal doesn’t hit the foot rest anymore. I’m gonna put one on the 312 as well. Many thanks.
