D_Mac 8,619 #1 Posted May 4 (edited) Looking at one but according to the owner it won't move. Not sure if he even tried the release valve or if it is stuck. Been setting for a couple years. Manual lift not hydro. Thoughts on what I should look for if I go see it. Also where is the release valve on this model? Edited May 4 by D_Mac

The 312A with manual lift has the Eaton 700 hydro. There is no tow release valve on the Eatons and the 700 is nearly impossible to move. Best to put it on a dolly till you can get the engine running. You may be able to hand push it by jiggling the motion control lever around the nuetral position. Do not tow or push with power. 2
Pullstart 62,884 #4 Posted May 4 If the tires are up, I like to take advantage of an open differential. Give the tractor some left to right pressure and spin one rear wheel backwards while pushing it forward. The spider gears will allow it to propel the chosen direction with no transmission movement.,,
953 nut 55,230 #5 Posted May 4 If you have a two wheel hand truck you can put it under the rear end and pick up the transaxle then hold it down while someone pushes it backward. Had to do this with one that was locked up because of a broken differential bolt. 1 1
D_Mac 8,619 #6 Posted May 4 So it's my understanding that you can't push it around without engine running? There is no dump valve like on my 1075 and 875 ? 2
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,045 #7 Posted May 5 Pushing instructions are on page 7 of the operator manual. Tried to copy and paste but can't make it work.

Ed Kennell 38,177 #9 Posted May 5 12 hours ago, D_Mac said: There is no dump valve like on my 1075 and 875 ? Correct, the Sundstrands have a "dump" valve and the Eatons do not. With the dump valve open, the Sundstrands can be safely towed. The Eatons can not be safely towed. The Eaton 1100 can be pushed by hand. Some of the Eaton 700s may be slowly pushed by hand by jiggling the motion control lever. Some Eaton 700s will not move at all. You have an Eaton 700. Best to pick it up to move it. 2 1

D_Mac 8,619 #11 Posted May 6 Talked to the owner of it again today. He told me that it stopped moving when the engine was running. That pretty much made me loose interest in it.

D_Mac 8,619 #14 Posted May 6 Not sure what it can be. Plus I'm no mechanic.

Tuneup 1,433 #17 Posted May 11 'Doesn't move anymore with engine running'. Sounds like it would be a screaming deal and an easy fix. Unusual to find these burned up but expected that they'd all be worn. 15W-50 fixed mine up nicely and is the recommended lubricant by a builder or two (yeah, internet but worked well here). I'm glad I'm not in the northeast where these things are more common. My shed would have to start having levels of storage. 4 is enough (for now) and the 516H just goes and goes. squonk 41,118 #19 Posted May 23 Eaton 700's are a weak hydro. It's a crap shoot finding a good used one.
