Achto 27,577 #2 Posted April 30 I have used a fanning mill before. Basic concept - save some of the grain that you harvested, run it through the fanning mill to remove any debris from it, in the spring, stick that grain back in the ground, let it grow, harvest, repeat. Saves money but your yield tends to decrease year to year. Which is why this practice has gone away, now most buy new seed every year.
Achto 27,577 #3 Posted April 30 (edited) Sorry I could not open your video at work. The screens are different sizes, this is to accommodate different seeds. So you can clean oats, wheat, alfalfa, corn, etc. Would be extremely cool to set it up to run on a hit/miss engine, or maybe a Wheel Horse. The one that I used was converted to run off from an electric motor. As to value?? Here is one offer up on a Clipper. https://www.ebay.com/itm/276053797507?itmmeta=01HWRPN8XPNZPY0QW7KC02EJGA&hash=item404616aa83:g:eo4AAOSwltRlCJCw I think yours looks in much better shape. Some other models for sale. https://www.ebay.com/itm/174293679103?itmmeta=01HWRPN8XQQRS1AYN40DZ9Z2M6&hash=item2894b67bff:g:pxQAAOSwmuheypbb https://www.ebay.com/itm/285231058658?itmmeta=01HWRPN8XQ78DY3K5NA7WN84QV&hash=item4269188ee2:g:5UUAAOSwVKhkNhCt https://www.ebay.com/itm/153433500128?itmmeta=01HWRQ31J3XWGSDYSGR5KZNYVW&hash=item23b95969e0:g:ZFQAAOSwpwRbyeL9 A video that shows how they work.
