Where do these parts go?

Hi guys/gals, I am reconditioning my 1974 "NO NAME" 12 hp, automatic. I have mounted the "box" over the tyranny but don't remember where the "u" shaped piece lives. I also have the fenders and under seat piece (one piece) the metal seat structure (bottom & back (one piece) and the two pieces of upholstered pads. I also purchased a mule (both halves) and the three mounting holes line up then the protruding front axel shaft doesn't. I can probably deal with that BUT the wheel that likes the "swinging arms" appears too big in diameter.  I may have two halves (of the mule) that slide together but don't quite like each other.  I think that the mule is a bit newer than the one that it replaces.  My original one lost a pulley bearing, still worked fine but ate it's way half wau thru the shaft unbeknownst to me! I haven't yet checked bot amayhave the "mid hitch" shaft/wheel(smaller wheel) on the mule. I hope the pics make ie!  Thanks, perplexed Tom

That U shaped piece is the hinge for the flip seat/fender.   it bolts to the two holes at the top rear of the tool box with spacers so it can swivel. Then the fender pan bolts to the U shaped piece.

 

That mule drive should latch right into that front bracket.

Trina and I did a full frame off restoration on my 1975 C160 Automatic. 

There's lots of pics and you should be able to get good reference.

Hi Ed, thanks for the info on the "u" shaped piece! Regarding the mule, I was trying to line the lower steering shaft with the mounting half of the mule. I also had the large axel turned around which places the raised "hub" around the axel hole against the mounting surface of the mule. This places the mule bracket the hub thickness out from the frame front where the bracket belongs!  Smart  huh? Thanks again, Tom

Hi ebinmaine, thanks for the pics!  I figured where the "u" shaped piece lives and how it relates to the fenders/seat base.  I was trying to line the mounting half of the mule shaft hole with the lower steering shaft!  Also had the damn large axel turned around then the "hub" surrounding the axel hole forced the mule bracket the hub thickness away from the frame mounting surface!  Smart huh?  Thanks again, Tom

The front mule holes will line up if you jack up the frame a bit.  The pin is likely on an upward angl, it needs that plate for a double shear.
