goldeagle 31 #1 Posted April 29 After taking apart the breather assembly when replacing a bent exhaust valve, I now have oil leaking from the breather assembly. I installed a new gasket and tightened up the cover as much as I dared. I have bought a new gasket and was planning to give it another go, and make sure the mating surfaces are completely clean. Any other tips for ensuring this is sealed up? Does anyone ever use any sort of sealant when assembling this?

RED-Z06 2,221 #4 Posted April 30 Be minimal with silicone, there is a small drain back hole in the breather to let accumulated oil mist go back into the block..its low to let oil back in, if silocone covers it, it will blow oil out
tunahead72 2,412 #5 Posted April 30 @goldeagle It is possible to tighten the cover TOO much and actually bend it, sounds like that might be your problem. The mating surface of the cover needs to be as close to perfectly flat as you can possibly make it.

Yep you're probably right, when I noticed it was leaking I thought tightening it up further would solve it. I will take it apart and check flatness, clean all mating faces, put a new gasket in an use a little silicon
