Pullstart 62,887 #28 Posted April 29 If it’s not a balancer, not an indicator, but goes on lug studs, it’s gotta be an un-balancer!

This thing is just a weight that creates a centrifical force for a specific purpose. Edited April 29 by Ed Kennell

The theory is the spinnlng weight creates a centrifical force that rocks the wheel of the stuck car back and forth when the weight is in the front and rear positions. When in the down position, yes, it increases the down force and traction. It was made in York, Pa. Did it work, I doubt it ? As far as I know, the patent is still pending. 4

Mickwhitt 4,625 #46 Posted April 30 I don't understand how it's supposed to do that, surely if the weight is free to pivot on the central bolt it will just hang down no matter what the wheel does? Am I missing something?
Mickwhitt 4,625 #47 Posted April 30 Having looked at it again, do you fit it to the wheel with the bolt loose, so you can access all three lug nuts, then lock it with the central bolt to make the wheel out of balance? If that's right I guess it mimics the action of bouncing up and down on the drive wheels that we try when unbogging a vehicle. The handles on the back of a Land Rover were fitted to allow helpers to bounce the rear end if it got stuck in mud.

I think it was designed to put money in the pocket of the manufacturer who would convince unsuspecting gellable people that it would actually work as well as they were telling you it would.

Am I missing something? Probably that the pivot point is not centered in the wheel. The weight is free to pivot and due to the pivot point not being centered, the spinning wheel may create enough centrifugal force to overcome the graviitational force on the weight. I have not tested this device and as stated above, I doubt that it did anything to free a stuck vehicle. Many inventions do not work, but thankfully Orville and Wilber never gave up trying.
