ebinmaine 67,502 #1 Posted April 20 I've got an original 60s carb on one of BBT's engines that leaks out the bottom of the bowl. I had an original old aluminum bowl on there. Swapped it to a steel B & S replacement like I've often done for other folks. I adjusted the float downward a bit. Still seeps..... What dahekk am I missing??? OutdoorEnvy 1,522 #2 Posted April 20 Hmm… bowl gasket, bowl nut gasket. Pitting on carb where bowl presses to carb? Bowl is replaced so assume no pitting there. Also I assume it’s not a slow leak from above it and running down from like a worn needle or seat? 1
squonk 41,118 #3 Posted April 20 I have had the same problem. New bowls, new gaskets still leaks. A coating of Permatex Aviation Sealant on both sides of the bowl nut washer seems to have cured it.
rmaynard 15,461 #4 Posted April 20 I had leakage at the bowl nut. the standard fiber washer in the Kohler kit has a 3/8" hole. The Tecumseh washer has a 5/16" hole. Seals much better. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09PC4DNXD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 3
squonk 41,118 #5 Posted April 20 (edited) Tried Tecky gaskets too. Still had leaks. Only thing that stopped it was the Aviation sealant.I think they started making the washers out of a harder material. Edited April 20 by squonk
Mike'sHorseBarn 2,998 #6 Posted April 21 I'd try a copper crush washer on the bowl nut. I did that once and it worked. 2

This was one of my thoughts too. 11 hours ago, squonk said: .I think they started making the washers out of a harder material. I'd agree with that. Good ideas men. Thank you. I'll get some sealant on there and get a smaller gasket washer, both.
