Fordiesel69 263 #1 Posted April 19 I know almost nothing about this tractor series, but are these residential grade light duty trannies any good for mowing. Don t plan to pull much of anything but I do have hills. It sure has the cheap hydro whine that all the craftsman and mtd have........
Fordiesel69 263 #2 Posted April 23 anyone? some google postings seem to shows these get weak at 700 ish hours. Is this a fairly accurate statement?

I think that is a fair statement, that tractor is a low end product. If possible, change the transmission oil even though some manuals say it is not serviceable. rmaynard 15,580 #4 Posted April 23 I have a K-46 in my John Deere 300x. It's been used hard, and probably abused pulling a Cyclone Rake for the last 10+ years (900 hours). So, if the K-61 is anywhere near as good, I'd says it's a good transmission. My advice, if you can, would be to drain the oil, replace the strainer and magnet, and refill with 5W50 full synthetic.
