Hank M 0 #1 Posted April 18 I have a 1991 Toro 244H lawn tractor with the hydrostatic transmission.. For the last few years it would slow down up hills and speed up going down. Recently it is very jerky and won't even climb a steep hill. Any help on diagnosing and repairing this?. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

WHX?? 49,130 #3 Posted April 18 Is the fluid level correct or does it leak fluid? If it is about the only thing one can do externally is check the linkage. Peerless if I remember right and probably not worth taking apart & repairing. . Should be a few donor transaxles out ther I know I have a couple. WHX?? 49,130 #5 Posted April 19 No can do Richard. If memory serves ther is no decent way to drain and they don't have a filter just an internal screen. If an Eaton you can rebuild them but often not worth it. Totally different than a 1100 fer sure. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Hank M 0 #7 Posted May 3 I'm the OP of this thread. First, i would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond. Further troubleshooting revealed that the drive belt was in poor condition. I remove and replaced it with a new one.
