ebinmaine 67,422 #1 Posted April 9 This question is primarily about a late seventies c121 Hydro 36-in RD deck Drive belt. Looks to me like it's supposed to be a standard rubber type 1/2 in wide 96.5 or 96.7 inches in length. Is there an aftermarket belt other than the Gates Blade Runner that I can use? Will a normal average everyday ½ by 97 drive this okay? Are these the same belts used on Long frame tractors for other sizes of mower decks as well?
squonk 41,067 #2 Posted April 9 If your deck has the std sliding idler deck pulley like a 42" RD deck has I don't see why you can't run a Tractor Supply 1/2 X 97 belt on it. I run a TSC on mine and I believe it's 97" 2

peter lena 8,609 #16 Posted April 10 @ebinmaine as you are aware , the belt deck " bounce " is a result of incremental , bearing hang up , the more it bounces , the more rotational / bearing issues are evident . have detailed my flat idler pulley , like a larger bearing , bush the inner to 3/8 same bolt fit . also have added a flat idler ,on the back unsupported area , about middle of long run , drill a hole , 3/8 bolt , elastic lock nut. have that on 3 decks . no belt buzzes, Pete
aemsee 93 #17 Posted April 14 (edited) I measured the external length of the deck belt for my 36" RD mower. It is 77". ?? 97" just seemed incredibly long for my deck. Edited April 14 by aemsee

peter lena 8,609 #23 Posted August 17 @ebinmaine second and fifth picture down , you are looking left to inside of mower deck , placed idler about in the middle of unsupported area , drilled a 3/8 hole in deck , longer thread free pulley mount , washers on each end and elastic lock nut , worked so well , have it on all my decks . like most of my mods , its on the detail of function , retaining original , intent , enhancing ease of function . none of my belt drives , have the wide , unsupported idler slide arm buzz , also re greased idler bearing , pete
