What the heck?

I know that political rants are not considered to be suitable for discussion on the forum and I understand why completely.  We are all of us entitled to our opinion but that can cause friction we can all do without. So it's better to limit political or religious comment to save causing offence.

If this post is removed I will understand completely and I'll apologise in advance for any offence caused by it.

But, as a retired law enforcement officer, cop, I cannot and never will understand what I read today about a compensation settlement from The NYPD.

A number of Muslim women have brought a legal case against the PD for requiring them to remove face coverings for mugshot photos to be taken.

And they have won! Apparently it is wrong to take a photo for identification purposes. What next, the police can't remove their gloves to take fingerprints? Or collect DNA because it infringes some religious text?

I'm waiting for the UK to follow suit and provide a cardboard box for prisoners to place over their heads when photographed to protect their right to privacy.

This is all down to one of the lowest forms of life on our planet; lawyers. Or rather the greedy, conscience free litigation experts who will argue black is white for a dollar, hiding behind the idea that everyone has a right to a defence or to free jelly beans because they were bullied at school.

Lawyers over here get involved in politics and many become members of the government. That means they write the laws their pals will make fortunes from either prosecuting or defending people around. It's a weird system that allows one segment of society to write the rules for everyone else and make money from the chaos that ensues.

The human rights act was written just after the second world war, to prevent another Hitler or stalin from enslaving or exterminating whole populations.  It wasn't taken into law in the UK until 1998, and the reason it came onto the statute books? A certain prime minister of ours decided it was a good idea, not to protect the rights of people, but to line the pockets of human rights solicitors, one of whom was his wife. Talk about making laws to suit yourself.

What's the point of these human rights acts that prevent law enforcement from doing their job, but allow state actors to engage in the kind of behaviour that the initial idea sought to prevent in future?

We've got it all wrong boys and girls, the lunatics are very definitely running the asylum.

Absolutely ranger, I cannot even imagine why New York even considered rolling over to this kind of idiocy.

What's next, cardboard box to pop over your head while they photograph you because you want to remain private.

I'm sorry but whatever your religion, showing your face is not the same as being naked, as these women claimed.

One of the new who murdered a police officer in England escaped the country by wearing a burka. That's where your argument falls on its ass ladies, give you an excuse to stay covered and it gets exploited. France don't allow face coverings so I believe.

In my day, we, (the boys) would climb up to sneak a look through the girls locker/shower🚿 room windows🪟. 🤪Now it seems they’ll go to any lengths to get in amongst the girls👯‍♀️ 🙀

We are now living in the Bizzaro World. Lenient social laws ( and many others as well ) are being exploited and used against the true intentions of why they were created in the first place. There are always the few, which will ruin it for the many. And that applies to just about everything under the sun.

My face covering story.

Back in the day I hunted deer on Maryland's Prettyboy  reservoir area.   This is an archery only deer and turkey hunting area that is also used by hikers, bird watchers, and dog walkers.

Bow hunters often use a camo net face covering when bow hunting.      The Md. state law required this face covering must be removed when approaching another person.

   Just sayin.

And now the deed to your home is useless if a squatter decides to move in while you are on vacation.

40 or 45 years ago I was doing a room addition on a retired Kansas CIty police officer's home.  He was a tough ole bird.  He cut the end of his thumb off in my table saw.  He drove himself to the doctor.   He was telling us that when he was working, if they were going after a criminal and they hollered "stop" and the criminal stopped that would be the end of the chase.  When the criminal kept running and the police had to put in a chase, if they caught the bad guy, the culprit knew what was coming and he would likely suffer a few bruises.

Charlie worked the red light district and he said the prostitutes pretty much knew the goings on and were one of his resources.  He told about chipping bodies out of ice.

It's a shame to hamstring the men and women who are our first line of defense in law and order.

My last tenant had her daughter (who didn't live there), back a U-Haul truck into the front yard of my house in order to move out.  It was totally unnecessary as the driveway was right there.  I went over to stop the nonsense but the driver would not listen and just screamed at me.  I reached for the truck key to shut it down but she pushed me back and backed up nearly striking the house and called the cops.  Two of our finest state cops came and listened to her BS then turned to me, charged me with harassment and ordered me off my property.  I took the case to court and the ex-policeman judge found me guilty.  The house will now sit empty and trash will never enter it again.  Cops of this sort should get a real job or at least fix my property.

I could have but the "judge" waived the fine knowing that I had nothing to gain.

I don't know why more states didn't do what Florida's governor did and give the owners the power and make the squatters the criminals.

At this point I am completely convinced that I own absolutely nothing.  When you consider property taxes, that are actually rent, and cops that side with scum, what is the point of having ones name on the deed?

This is the first thread I have read here that is more societal commentary and I get enough of this from all the other news sources I read. I hope it is the last.

Here too with the Archery face covering. That doesn't bother me though. I Won't shake someones hand with a glove on. Or, wear a hat in a building. Just the way I was raised I guess. On the squatter thing? Here in Mn. You can get them thrown off your property. But, you gotta go to Civil Court to do it. And, Mickwhwitt. Over here? Most all of our Politicians ARE Lawyers. Therefore, They spend more time arguing about who knows the most about Nothing...... So, nothing gets done..
