When you get it installed you’ll have to post a video of it running!

There are many other things we want to do to th truck before the cam. When I get to that point it's possible I'll get a new cylinder head as well. Screw in studs and better valve springs. I may even go nuts and get a CNC Ported head from Promaxx.

You could have your head ported and install some Chevy inline 6 rockers and get some more lift ( if you have clearance for them) And pair that with a 4 barrel intake. https://www.jegs.com/i/Offenhauser/750/6019-DPK/10002/-1 If you want to get real fancy then throw a Holly sniper on it! You should check out Engine power’s video about their 600 hp turbo charged inline 6. Summit racing sells the kits to build it.

I already have a full spectrum of parts for my engine build along with a full rebuild of the rear axle with an Auburn cone Limited Slip Differential and many many other various things. I'll get a list together and update my own thread.
87 416-8 horse 420 #32 Posted April 15 I picked up this crusty old Ferd today for only $300. It’s pretty much identical to my other one except for it has a/c and cruise. I’ll also have some other parts I need and some extras. I’m going to part it out and keep the engine for later. It’s past saving.
ebinmaine 67,508 #34 Posted April 15 The chrome trim, wheels, and that whole front grill has value too.

The rims are perfect but every piece of the trim has drywall screws in it. Here’s some more pictures of the rust. I forgot to mention that the engine is extremely seized. It’s been off the road since 2017

I’m going to look in the cylinders and check if it’s just rust or if something came apart or if there is a crack in the cylinder. I have some knocker lose soaking in there now. 1
87 416-8 horse 420 #39 Posted April 17 I found it why the engine was stuck in the parts truck. When I got it I thought it had 143k miles judging by the body but I think it’s 43k because it still has the cross haching and no ring ridge!
87 416-8 horse 420 #42 Posted April 18 Got the 2 cylinder all cleaned up for now. I hit them with some sandpaper and a ball hone. It spins nice and smooth now. They’re not perfect but I’m not too worried because it will probably get bored out in the future.

87 416-8 horse 420 #44 Posted April 18 (edited) It was the two rusted cylinders. Edited April 18 by 87 416-8 horse

I think it sat for quite a while with the hood open and the air cleaner off because the carb is stuck and the ports in the head are a bit rusty. Someone pulled the plugs a while back and put some ATF in them but I don't think they got the water out. Edited April 18 by 87 416-8 horse 1

87 416-8 horse 420 #48 Posted April 25 The interior and cab are stripped out and off the frame! All the wiring is out. All I have left to do to the cab is cut the fire wall out and send it off to scrap. Next up is striping the frame down. Pull the engine, trans, and transfer case. This truck has a 3.08 limited slip diff that I’ll rebuild and throw In my truck. And pull the front gears for a spare set.

I’ve had 4 of them, mostly with 5 speeds behind them. Good on you for keeping one on the road. You didn't even really have to do that. I've heard stories of the Cash4Clunkers era where those 300-6s would run for an hour or more with no oil and just the sodium cilicate in the crank case.
