Handy Don 12,213 #8 Posted April 5 Pretty strong here for about 30+ seconds. Stuff rattled and a couple things fell off shelves. Initially it sounded like one of the heavy Army helicopters that regularly overfly us headed to/from West Point. As it got VERY loud and the house was shaking, I started thinking a helo was about to crash so I ran out to the front lawn. Mickwhitt 4,617 #15 Posted April 5 Rare as hens teeth in the UK, but we had one in our area a good few years ago. Middle of the night and it shook the house like you wouldn't believe. Woke me up with the bed shaking and the bedroom door swinging open. I thought I was dreaming and just went back to sleep. Next morning the news was full of this earthquake. We had a large family gathering at the in-laws, the old farm house was packed with people when a 4.1 hit 6.9 miles away. The house shook and I immediately knew what it was and yelled for everyone to get outside thinking that old house might fall.
