ACman 7,607 #52 Posted October 26 (edited) My cousin has seen this guy for three years now. Just never close enough to get a shot . They don’t get that big being stupid . . Coyotes have been out of control behind the house for the last week . Was leaving the middle school football game the other night and heard a friend say that he taking the couch out for a night hunt . Told him what I had going on and around midnight I heard two shots. Same night another local guy seen 8 and had gotten 6 of them . Edited October 26 by ACman
adsm08 1,957 #53 Posted October 26 We finally saw a few this morning. I went out early by myself to try and foot a shew pheasants, no such luck. Almost got shot myself by a deer hunter, guy admitted he knew I was there when he shot at the deer when I confronted him. Good thing he didn't look like a pheasant. On the way back to the car I came within a few feet of getting barreled over by a spike. Then I took the boy out, since the deer were all over, we saw 4 but none came close enough or slowed down enough for him to get a shot.

He only had on an orange cap, which is actually more than the legal requirement for a stationary archery hunter. I knew he was there too, but I did not see the deer. I heard it take off after he shot though.
Ed Kennell 37,911 #56 Posted October 28 The bucks are starting to search for doe. This guy followed three doe across the field about 80 yards from my stand. About 1/2 hour later the three doe crossed the other direction. He came back a few minutes later. He's not a monster, but broadside at 15 yards...I couldn't pass.

I need to be selective on what projects I consider. He doesn't quite qualify for a full mount, but he'll go on the wall If I can find a spot. Kinda interesting genetics. I think he is probably related to the one I took in 2022 out of the same tree. 2022 2024 Not much wall space remaining in Ed's room. I do have some good news. Some of you know the story on this little piebald buck that was evidence in a 2009 Maryland poaching case that happened at Rocky Gap State Park. After the trial I got the deer and did the full mount. Many people from Cumberland, Md. spent hours watching this deer and his mother feed in the no hunting area of the park. For three years I have been trying to donate the mount for display at the Campground visitor center. They refused to take it due to the lack of paper work, but I just got approval that they can now put it on display. So I am cleaning him up and will be delivering him to the park in two weeks. 1
adsm08 1,957 #60 Posted Tuesday at 10:57 PM I was talking to the neighbor last night, he said he's had a big spike on his cameras behind the house, not legal for either of us, but a good shooter for the boy. Unfortunately the bugger only seems to come around at 3 am.

Something a bit off with them being that cozy with a 100 pound lab... We have a lab that has spent more time playing with white-tails than other dogs over the course of her life. She's only been an only pup for about two months out of 13 years, she has just always liked deer better, and they seem to accept her.
