rmaynard 15,434 #1 Posted March 17 I would like to convert my 875 parking brake handle to the newer (877 and up) style. The 875 has the parking brake located down here. With my back problems, it is a little hard to reach down to actuate it. I would like to modify it so that it is like the 877. Is this just a matter of replacing all the linkage and modifying the belt cover? Has anyone else done this?
rmaynard 15,434 #2 Posted March 21 Okay, so I've had no responses to this inquiry, I'll try something else. Does anyone have a good picture of the whole 877 parking brake/belt tensioner assembly? The one that I posted was pulled from somewhere on the forum and is not clear. I need to know if the handle assembly is the only difference or if there are other parts that I will need.
WHX?? 48,814 #3 Posted March 21 Not familiar with the setup on a 875 Bob but why can't you just add an extension to the lever to bring it up next to the tunnel? Not the best pic as before bath. A 1077
squonk 41,067 #4 Posted March 21 You will need parts Bob. I do not have this 1075 tractor any more or a good pic. But you can see the engagement control arm pivots at a different spot than the
rmaynard 15,434 #5 Posted March 21 That 1075 is just like my 875 with the arm sitting low. Hard to reach when the back is fused. The 877 etc. has a lever that sits straight up. I just need to know if anything else in the whole engagement/disengagement mechanism is different. Going to go visit Red Man's Boneyard tonight and would like to be armed with what I might be looking for.
squonk 41,067 #6 Posted March 21 (edited) I would grab everything form a 877/1077 if he has it. Take a pic of all the linkage on your 877 and compare to see if it will work. Outside of drilling a hole or 2 and notching the belt guard I don't see why not. Edited March 21 by squonk
rmaynard 15,434 #7 Posted March 21 That's my thought. Will let you know.
rmaynard 15,434 #8 Posted April 24 So the parking brake conversion is done. I added an idler from an 877, cut a notch in the belt cover, buttoned her back up and What a relief not to have to bent over to set or release the parking brake/belt tensioner.

Cody 276 #12 Posted April 25 That came out great and definitely much more convenient then the original style!
rmaynard 15,434 #13 Posted April 25 I temporarily left the old lever in place. Easily removed with a hacksaw.
