AHS 1,440 #1 Posted February 26 Im going Saturday to pick up the non running 520H and 518H. I was wondering if they had a knob for ‘drive’ and ‘free wheel’? Eaton 700 & 1100? I know my 73 14hp/sundstrand does, and it is easy to wheel around.
squonk 41,068 #2 Posted February 26 No. The Eaton 1100 in the 520 doesn't. They can be pushed but very slowly.

Ed Kennell 38,141 #4 Posted February 26 No, no tow valves on the Eaton 700 and 1100s. The earlier Eaton 5 has a tow/drive valve. As Mike and Lynn said, the 1100s can by hand pushed slowly. Jiggling the motion control lever around the neutral position will help. Towing or pushing with a tractor may cause damage. The Eaton 700s are nearly impossible to move. Best to put the rears on a dolly to move.
cleat 5,926 #5 Posted February 26 If the 520 has been sitting for a long time the oil will have drained out of the pump and it will push easily. I just pushed one from a garage out back through a few inches of snow about 300' and it moved easily and quietly. It has been sitting there for a couple of months at least. Do not tow but push by hand. I can't speak for the 518.

I got a 518-H where the PO had ruined the Eaton by letting it roll fast down a steep ramp off his raised pickup truck numerous times. I was a newb at the time and didn’t realize the impact.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,040 #8 Posted February 26 The 518-H models for the North American market used the Eaton 700 in 1988 and 1989. The 518-H models for the export market used the Eaton 1100 in 1988, 1989 and 1990.
cleat 5,926 #9 Posted February 26 That makes absolutely no sense. Bean counters I guess.
AHS 1,440 #10 Posted February 26 Ok. These should help. One at the bottom of each tire and a strap. They’re supposed to support 1k lbs… we shall see!!
AHS 1,440 #11 Posted February 26 (At the sellers house) At the end of this week ill go and pick up the 518 and the 520. The 518 is 10’ from the driveway. The 520 is right at the edge of the driveway. I was thinking, IF the e brakes work, then we’ll just put the brake on and slide it across the snow? Easy, right!!
