518-h hydro pump and housing seals and gaskets

I picked up a 1987 518-h wheel horse the other day and the guy said someone put brake fluid in the hydro pump. I pulled it apart and the pump was pretty much dry. By the way everything looks I don’t think there was any brake fluid in it. All the balls are free and move. I’m planning on throwing some new seals in the case and pump, but I can’t find seals or gaskets anywhere. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can pick some up. Btw it’s an Eaton 700.

I had back surgery in 2019. Because of Covid I had to wait and wait. Got to the point of where I could only sleep in a recliner and could only walk about 20 feet without stopping. Had to lean on railings and whatnot to even get anywhere. SAVE YOUR BACK! 

 

 SUPPOSED TO GO INTO THE ENGINE WEIGHT THREAD!!! IT'S HELL TO GET OLD!!!

Might want to consider getting an 1100  trans complete and install. Probably the best option as far as reliability and cost. 

The 1100 trans axle uses the sump for the trans fluid.

The control gets flipped around and will work the same

Definitely a good idea. You'll gain hydraulic lift, and the 1100 has three times the output torque of the 700!

 

Whatever you do, be sure to keep the cooling fins clean. A cool hydro is happier. Heat is almost as bad as dirt on these hydros. Clean and cool will preserve them.

Would any of the c series have an Eaton 11? 
The reason I’m asking is there is a couple c series at a junkyard I’m thinking about picking up for parts.

Per the service manual, the balls are mated to the sockets and once hydro has been run, they should not be interchanged due to tight tolerances and “wear in”.

Be sure to keep the oil expansion reservoir attached and filled to spec.

The “innards” of the 700 are smaller than the 1100 and hence it is less capable of transmitting power. It is a perfectly fine unit for mowing and blowing motion, where the engine directly powers the implement, but it isn’t designed for plowing soil or snow.

 

If you do go to an 11, you’ll need to link the charge pump output to the filter input unless you also add the hydraulic cylinder and control plumbing!

Yep, the C-xx5s had Eaton 1100s.       The B-xx5s had the Eaton 700s.    The C-xx0s had Sundstrands.

Many of these old tractors have swapped hood and fenders. Sometimes a model isn't what the hood says it is.

 

Easiest way to be sure is that of the oil filter faces the rear, it's an Eaton 1100.

My C-145 has an Eaton 1100
