Goodyear 26X12.00-12 Turf Tires

Recommended Posts

eibbed

Gentlemen,

I think there was a post on this subject not too long ago but I just can't find it.

I had one tire mounted on an 8X12 rim to see how it looked, and it is really ballooning in the middle. Too much so.

Will a 10" wide rim flatten it out enough, or do I need to search for a 12" wide rim to have it right?

Thanks,

Dave

Well it all depend on what the tire comany designed it to fit on, I have a set of 24x12x12 on 8.5 wide rims and they fit nice but are made for 8.5 rims, my 26x12x12 ags titans are on 10.5 rims and fit good, with no rim in the tire how wide are the beads? that might get you in the ball park, as long as the tires are not deformed, like some duros I've got new, the sides almost touched.

Hi Kelly,

The beads are 10" wide.

I went outside and took a picture to attach to this post just in case one of our members wasn't sure what we were referring to.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Dave

Go with a 10" wide rim, you should be good, I had to get a set that the centers where not located correct and grind the welds out and weld them where I wanted them.

I welded the fronts also.

Another note you know that size will not fit most wheel horses with out mods. fenders raised or cut, running boards, trimmed. and if your putting them on a tractor that the tank is under the seat that is a tight fit.

Hey Kelly,

10" rims it is then. Once I find a pair of them, I'm going to off set the centers, as you did, to allow for the snow plow attachment on my 702 and replace the three lug rear hubs with 5 lug.

Thanks again,

Dave

Hey Kelley,

10" rims it is then. I'll modify them, as you did, and I should be good to go. They are slated to go on my 702 and I'll probably just remove the tool pan and fenders to allow for them. I also plan on replacing the three lug rear hubs with five lug.

You're probably wondering why I went with such a big tire. Well, they are brand new and I got a pretty good deal on them.

Thanks again for all your help.

Dave

I was thinking of going with 24x12x12 on my sons 654.

@ Kelly - That looks awesome. Anymore pics of that bad boy. Is that the 702?

Are those turf savers?

Thanks

Kelly, if the 520's have a 8.5 wide rim, what model do you find the 10.5 rims on?

I got mine from a zero turn, but I think some JD's have them like the 400 series, but not all of them, also ditch witches use the wide wheels, some use garden tractor style wheels. you just have to hunt, keep in mind if you have to remove the center, they don't have to be 5 bolt they can be 4 bolt, but make sure the inside diam. is correct to fit the 5 bolt center in to it.

You can also check with used turf equipment dealers. A lot of sprayers and mowers used flotation tires on wide wheels.

When I was looking for an extra set of rims for my 520-H, there were a couple of dealers on Ebay that were selling wider rims with what appeared to be the correct offset for a Wheel Horse. I cannot remember if they had any 10" wide or not. I believe they came off of a zero turn mower or some type of equipment.

The place I got my rims was Kart Wheels, they have all types of rims and tires.

You may also want to check Mid West Cub if you cannot find a good used set. They sell parts for Cub Cadet pulling mowers. I know they have rims, but I do not know the sizes or prices. I am sure there are also other companies that should sell parts for pullers. This may be one of the best places to find the wide rims, even if you have to cut the centers out and reweld them.

Hope this helps a little.

D.L.

another thoght is cut 2 sets up and weld them togther to make them wider, will be a little tougher to get straight, but can be done.

The next question is this..... will a 10 wide wheel fit under the 520's without cutting up the fender pan?

Hey guys,

In my search for wider rims, is the outside width dimension of a 10 & 1/2" rim actually 9 & 1/4" or some other dimension?

Thanks,

Dave

My 10.5 rims I measured with the tire off from inside bead to inside bead, 9 1/4 outside is probably 8.5 rims

This might help you a bit.

I had to raise the fender pan on my 312-8 by an inch to get 24x12x12 ag's on.

The fender pan just needs a few spacers (I used 1 inch box) to get the clearance.
