1973 Wheels and Tires

Recommended Posts

JParrow

I have a 1973 and all 4 tires are completely dry rotted.  They do not hold air.  I am trying to fine a replacement tire 22.5 x 7.50 x12 2-ply rated (rear tires) front tires I cannot read the size.

Are replacement tires available and if not what do you do?  are there replacement wheels and tires that fit the hub pattern?

I wouldn't change wheels, unless they are too rotted to clean up. Offsets and front axle hub width will be issues that are hard to verify until you've already spent money.

So far as tires, 23x8.50-12 are very common and won't give any fitment issues on the rear. 16x6.50-8 for the fronts.

Welcome. Plan to use the tractor for plowing? You may consider using AG tires up front to improve steering in the snow.... no issue on grass in the summer too.

I have matching pairs of 22x7.5x12 and 23x8.5x12...on rims.   Little to zero dry rot---are inside garage.   $60 per pair.

Come and get them at my home....16729 price rd, Saegertown, pa 16433  (about 40m south of Lake Erie).

Probably have a pair of 23x9.5x12 out there too...$70 pair   1924095103_tires(7).JPG.bbf9caa4ef81414a133a603fcd81827d.JPG

Deestone 400 x 8 triribs work great on 4" wide wheels. The older tractors came with 4" wide wheels and 16 x 5.50 x 8 tires that are no longer avabable.  The 16 x 6.50 x 8 work a lot better on 5 3/8" wide wheels that came with later model tractors.
