c-series don 8,808 #1 Posted January 25 I want to order new keys for the hubs/axles in my 418-8. I found them at McMaster-Carr, have to buy ten but I only need two, whatever! I’ll have spares! JoeM 7,874 #4 Posted January 25 kind of sitting here thinking. I think WH just used a carbon steel key as OE The hub and axle are what I consider soft or mild steel material. If you get any movement you want the key to wear first. I would go with a regular key. Just make sure the bore in the hub is tight and there is not a lot wear on the axle. Ed Kennell 38,598 #5 Posted January 25 I suspect it really doesn't matter. I have never seen a key with much damage. Even when the axle and hub slots have been destroyed. Doesn't appear the key is designed to be a safety or shear device. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
