8ntruck 7,378 #4 Posted January 20, 2024 Actually, the Sthil engines are 4 stroke. The crankcase is essentally part of the intake manifold. The oil mix in the gas eliminates the need for an oil sump. This design is a result of emission regulations on small engines. I used to run a 60% ethanol, 40% nitromethane, caster oil in my 2 cycle RC racing boat engines. Ran really well.
