We changed a lot of field coils using an impact driver to loosen and tighten the screws on the field case. Worked well. Loosening goes a bit easier if you put the ball of a ball peen hammer on the screw head and hit it with another hammer. It distorts/caves in the screw head slightly making them come out easier.
