cod 121 #1 Posted January 6, 2024 Any consensus on a replacement edge for a snow plow? Hot roll, cold roll, 1/4", 3/8" thickness? Mine is getting worn and I believe it has already been flipped over. Another consideration would be to use rather heavy rubber mud flap, although I suspect it would wear out quickly. Any suggestions would be appreciated or a link to previous posts about this subject. grinchsr 636 #2 Posted January 6, 2024 I trashed the steel one and found the correct size piece of UHMV on the internet. I did have to drill the holes using the old steel one for a template. It has been on my plow for a few years and it is not showing much wear and it is not hurting my new driveway which makes me happy. 2

Is your driveway newer asphalt, concrete, or do you NOT want it scratched? A high density plastic would be a great alternative. For steels I'd lean towards a piece of whatever was available to be had and try to find something harder like a skidsteer blade. Those are on the jungle site and other places for reasonable prices. Far as sizing goes I have a pretty wicked tendency towards go big or go home but I have a hydraulic lift doing the work. If I was running a manual lift I'd stay lighter on materials.

I bought a piece 1/2” x 4” x 48” lg. from Amazon. I then use the standard metal blade as a clamp plate. I also put golf cart tires on the back so I don’t need chains either. As grinchsr said, now I’m not marking my driveway at all.

JoeM 7,874 #7 Posted January 7, 2024 I used an old piece of conveyor belting for a rubber edge and it is sandwiched between the metal blade edge and plow face. 3/8" stuff. lasts a long time. I actually tried this broom thing one year and it worked pretty good. A friend of mine gave it to me. 1

Just curious about overall durability I had also thought about getting one of the horse mats from my local farm store and cutting strips for the same purpose Edited January 7, 2024 by OoPEZoO
