AJ Desalvo 22 #1 Posted January 4 Good morning Members!! Just wondering… My research suggests that a Champion plug RCJ-8 belongs in my K181. A Champion H-10C was installed in the engine at the time I purchased my Horse.. Probably a mistake or maybe a performance issue?? I welcome your opinions and suggestions.. Btw.. This forum is fantastic!! Thank you all for sharing so much information!! 2
953 nut 55,394 #2 Posted January 4 Thank you for becoming a supporter of Red Square. Your research was correct, the Champion J-8 is called for on the Kohler engines from K-90 to K-181. 1
WHX?? 48,853 #3 Posted January 4 H-10 is the correct plug for big blocks tho. K241, 301 and up. Since the J-8 was such a common plug there are many crosses & substitutes should the rack be empty as often with my luck.

Good quality that h10 is just a touch hotter then the j8 if it ran good on the h10 pull lever B. And if you want a hotter plug a nice replacement for the 216is the autolite 437 If you are getting fouling from a combination of a tired engine and wonderful high quality gas. A hotter plug will help I know we do little stop and go driving but this shows how colder vs hotter works. 2
