AJ Desalvo 22 #1 Posted December 19, 2023 Hello all!! I am new to the Wheel Horse community. I recently purchased a 657. I am looking for any information on this model, such as the year and available accessories that may still be out there. Any information is greatly appreciated. 5
ri702bill 8,316 #2 Posted December 19, 2023 (edited) Welcome!! 657 - 6 is 6HP, 5 is electric start, 7 is the year (1967). A good worker of a tractor. You look pretty well set for winter - tractor, rear wheel weights with 4 link chains. Plow is a short frame 42" - not seeing the lever on the right to angle the blade.... getting on & off the tractor to angle the plow manualy gets old quick. Attachments - there is an interchange document near the top of the "Implements and Attachments" heading. Most items from 1961 thru 1972 or so fit. Even some of the later B and C series.... I replaced the too-far-gone 4 speed with an 8 speed from a 1979 C81 on my 854.... a shot from the angling lever side... WHX?? 48,815 #6 Posted December 19, 2023 Blue motor might suggest a service replacement. Should have had a Tecumseh HH60 but you have a better engine. Most likely a later K181. Post a pic of the motor nameplate. Little brother to the 857 867 which is a fav by all here.

ri702bill 8,316 #12 Posted December 19, 2023 Do check the condition of the shifter boot - if worn or torn - replace it! The shifter acts like a wick in the rain - water goes right by it if it is bad and into the Unidrive... not good. There is no dipstick on yours, unlike the later Unidrives. You MAY be due for a fluid change anyway.. Manual explains MOST of it.... not all. 2

I keep a notebook in my phone with Redsquare tabs and that's actually the top one. I haven't tried it for a long time but I think if you search new herd checklist and then poke where it says new AND herd AND checklist it should come up pretty well.

953 nut 55,194 #20 Posted December 19, 2023 With the wheel weights and tire chains you will be able to move a bunch of snow with the 657. 1
D_Mac 8,607 #21 Posted December 20, 2023 (edited) It's a 657 turned into an 857. Nice upgrade. I'd clean up that wiring and what I think is a fuel line stretched across the blower housing. Fuel line should run under it. Rub it all down with some boiled linseed oil and it will shine up nice. Edited December 20, 2023 by D_Mac 2
