ri702bill 8,242 #3 Posted December 16, 2023 Excellent work - amazing how far gone the housings were that the deck shell survived well.....
Jon Paulsen 290 #4 Posted December 17, 2023 I REALLY need to get my deck off The Beast and do the same. No way it will be that nice though. My goal would be to preserve function.
Brockport Bill 1,645 #5 Posted December 17, 2023 terrific - looks awesome!!! Did you get new complete spindles, or just housings, or what? I can relate the time and effort to do your deck!........... Here are some photos of a 42 sd and an 42 rd I just rehabbed in past 2 months.

I got some used spindles on eBay that much better housings with very little corrosion damage. I rebuilt them with new bearings and treated outside of the housings with POR-15.
8ntruck 6,969 #7 Posted December 17, 2023 POR-15 works on aluminum?

I've applied it to the underside of a couple decks and it sticks the same amount of time to the spindles as it does to the deck. I figure it's better than nothing as a corrosion barrier from the grass. And it's much thicker than paint. Edited December 18, 2023 by Andy N.
