company out of Texas called K9 Tires, its their R1 Lugged tire.  They go for around $125/set and so far have held up great.

Ive never measured, but this is the specs.  I got them off ebay a couple years ago

I said my next post would have more to it, but that isn't the case. The only fabrication I needed to do on this machine was to change this L-157 center console over to one that matches up to a R/E 32, 33, or 34 type so as to match the fender and toolbox. 

 

So I had to convert what I had. Here's the first side:

 

And for the record, I hate welding sheetmetal!

I said previously that this build had very little fabrication, but I guess I just can never leave well enough alone...

 

I fabbed a heavier hitch for this little guy, and modded the toolbox so it would pass through the back. With the hitch on top, I didn't want it to stick out any further than needed. It's not as heavy as one that mounts on the axle, but at least it's more than 6 inches off the ground. The seat spring sits on top of the hitch. 

 

I also got the right side tunnel cover painted, and one fender. The other side is still in progress. 

 

Since these fenders came from a Suburban, they were too high for these wheels. So I lowered them so the sit closer to the tires. 

 

I had previously built added supports to use hydraulic lift on this, but abandoned that idea. It would work, but I didn't like the setup. Regardless, the supports are 1/4 plate and use pivots from a D series. They bolt in the same holes as the tunnel sides. The bellcrank is 1 inch, and has a removable tab to connect to a cylinder. I'll make a manual arm to fit it later. Or I'll figure something else out. 

 

Also started putting the engine back together...

I like the usefulness of that big wide toolbox. I wanna put stuff in it and go in the forest.

So I have fought this confounded hood for about 3 days now. Still got some dimples in the "brow" up front to fix, but at least it's primed now. All the big dents are banged out.

 

The PO had put something like polyurethane on it with a brush. Problem was he left it in the rain for a while, and it had thousands of little rust filled blisters all over it. 

 

I've used paint stripper 4 times and scraped it off each time. Burned out my grinder and wire brush on it, because the stuff just balled up when sanded or brushed. After today's "strip and scrub" session, I got down to factory paint. Easy from there...

 

So I gave her a test fit. Paint tomorrow....

4.5" angle grinder and these bad boys, they self clean pretty well, if im doing something pretty gummy i keep a brick or block next to me so I can just touch it off to clear the wheel.

 

This fender had 3 or 4 coats, and rust, took about 45 minutes to do the whole thing and about 3 wheels, the finish was good enough to wipe down with spirits and prime.

When I was using flux core welding wire, these were my go-to cleanup--not only the slag, but they took off minor imperfections in the metal.

You'll love em, they dont gouge either which is nice.  They will hook an edge so always keep the away side in mind when doing edges.

Little more progress today. Time to call Terry and order some steekers! 

 

I know the white is wrong, but the rear wheels are that color and I'm just trying to match what's already there. The seat was so rough that it'll probably get a cover anyway...

Still got a small dimple on the brow, but my son will likely make it worse over the next few years. Probably gonna fab a bumper for the nose anyway!

We use those disks for putting a shine on shares before plowing ... work great.

I did just that. They had a sale going this past week that was buy a battery, get a tool for free. It won't last long on a charge, but it does great for what I needed.

Dan does it too...  trouble is changing from a flap to a grinder to a cutoff... trouble is those cordless ones sure are grab n go... trouble is Milwaukee Tool ain't exactly given them away...

This is really handy, bit bulky, but i find myself laying it on the bench upside down and using it to clean parts when i cant clamp them in a vice..it leaves a really smooth finish.
