Onan P220 Wiring

Hey guy - Just got done with a full rebuild on this P220 on a JD 420.

 

I have one white wire with a small eye let that comes out of the 3 prong plug with 2 others that go to the Voltage reg. 

The 3 prong plugs wires are Brown,Red,Orange.

Wire in question connects to the orange on the plug.

 

It has a smaller eyelet and it has key on 12 volts.

 

Any help where this goes would be appreciated.

Not sure what year your tractor is but check out our manuals for a wire diagram.

Sorry man, its for a JD 420. Ive dug through a ton of wiring schematics and with lack of color code it makes it difficult to guess where a live wire goes. Ill dig through the one you posted.

And finding that wiring diagram you might have to invest heavily in JD stock. 

The wire that powers up the ig coil? Just grasping thoughts buddy. 

Much as I loathe to say it you might be better off finding your answer on a green n yellow site or try tractor talk.com.

Hey bud, yea I've gleamed a lot of info and manuals off this site for the onan so figured I'd join and ask here first. 

 

The coil does have a black,red and condenser wire meant for that just not connected in the picture. 

 

Appreciate the advice,help and as much as it pains you the direction elsewhere.

Yea I have that manual and a couple others. None have the correct wiring schematic that I'm working with.

Just confirmed, it goes to the coil + terminal.

Thing that tipped me off as I think I saw the coil in his pic with nothing on the terms.

They go to

coil +
center terminal on the voltage regulator 

oil pressure sensor

So the coil + has 2 key on power going to it?

 

MY coil has on POS term: Red wire (hot key on power) and condensor wire, NEG Term has the Black/ground wire.

I was pretty sure it was the coil +, but wanted to confirm before I posted.

Oil pressure already has a spayed/forked connection on it. I remembered where that went. The white/hot wire wont reach the oil sensor.

Mine has a red (pos) with key on power, Black (Ground) and a condensor wire to POS.

 

 

The coil + should have 3 wires,

condenser 

ign module red wire 

and the white wire from that 3 terminal plug 

 

the coil - should only have the black wire from the ign module

The oil pressure sensor only gets that one wire

Or does it have 4 wires? White/Red/Condenesor and 1 on black ground side?

That red (hot) wire on the coil that you mentioned, where does the other end go?  Thinking that was a previous owner modification.

Comes off the ignition module, I always called it a pick up coil.. Labeled "Ignition Control" in schematics. 

 

Its all stock from stator to pick up coil. 1 owner machine btw. 

 

That white wire has to be the 3rd in the schematic and my brain didnt want to see it.. or something.

In that wiring schematic i see 4 POS has Red from ignition control,condensor and the 3rd wire comes from #4 it looks then ground from ignition control
