DCwom 78 #1 Posted November 24, 2023 I think this is called an Attach-a- Matic or something like that. I can't swing the inner moving bracket towards the front of the tractor because the opposite (top) end seems to hit the frame rail. I'm thinking either the mount is on backwards, mounted wrong, or I'm just not understanding how it works. Here is a picture from the right side of the tractor, the front of the horse is to the right in the picture. I have a grader blade that looks like it ought to mount up in there, but I don't know if it was ever mounted on this particular unit.

daveoman1966 3,751 #3 Posted November 24, 2023 (edited) n the LEFT side the tractor, there s/b a spring-loaded ;ock/release mechanism.... shown here by the little BLACK BUTTON. Push that button in with thumb and HOLD it while pushing locking lever forward. When you get the round implement mounting bar in the slot---BOTH sides----push that lever back and it will LOCK IN... Be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that the FORK (#2) engages the HITCH ROD #5. Edited November 24, 2023 by daveoman1966 1

Can we get a pic of the left side? I have several of these older mid Tach-A-Matics.
JoeM 7,873 #6 Posted November 24, 2023 @Ed Kennell I think this is what we are looking at with part #89 being modified. He may be able to swap to the newer one like your shown. 1

I have a grader blade that looks like it ought to mount up in there, but I don't know if it was ever mounted on this particular unit. The plates are from a pre-Attach-a-matic hitch from the 60’s. It gets locked open or closed by using R-clips inserted through the small holes in the side plates. The latch arm you have is from a different, later model. They cannot be mixed! From the picture, it looks like you have an early 70’s tractor. I recommend placing a Want in the classifieds to get a complete Attach-a-matic with the correct plates and latch, as well as the much improved locking rod! This diagram is from a late ’60’s mower deck (in that era, the hitch came with the mower deck, not with the tractor) The side plate you have is #80 in this diagram and is normally on the left side. If the other side is the same, you can leave both but you’ll need a a latch like #78. It the other side plate is like #79, then it's probably on backwards and should be on the right side. With the correct latch and plate positions, you can likely mount your grader. Edited November 24, 2023 by Handy Don
Ed Kennell 38,146 #8 Posted November 24, 2023 (edited) If Joe and Don are correct, this is the part #78 or 89 that you need. PM me if interested in a purchase. Edited November 24, 2023 by Ed Kennell
Pullstart 62,838 #9 Posted November 25, 2023 I bet if you take one side plate off and correct the orientation of the “part 89” that will work just fine. It still has the correct latch, it’s just shorter.

Thanks @Ed Kennell for the offer, it appears I have the correct part after all. I also seem to have made the assumption that it was an Attach-a-matic, but as @Handy Don pointed out its pre-Attach-a-matic, the horse is a 72 Raider 12. Here's a shot (from the left side of the reoriented hitch with a "R-clip" holding it back. Given how the moving hitch part (part 89) hangs kind of low, I wonder if it was struck and pushed back at one point. I haven't tried attaching the grader yet, as it turns out, it is rusted tight in an over-angled way where the rear tires interfere. I've got the thing soaked with WD-40, but it hasn't budged yet, I'm probably going to need heat. Thanks for everyone's help. . 2
