fourwheelhorseman 279 #1 Posted November 18, 2023 Hi all, first my introduction and then my question. I used to colllect these old tractors about 20 years ago. I had several c series hydros, suburban a few RJs and a couple of square hoods. Anyhow, I’m back into it mildly, a friend offered me. A C-series 8 spd for free a week or so ago, it was free so I jumped on it. After 15 years of sitting in a barn not being tan I got it running, it seems to run good and engine has been rebuilt. I need the entire headlight system, This tractor also has the two peice seat but the vinyl is in bad shape. Does anyone remake these seats like this anymore? If so can someone put me in contact with them? Also where is a good source for general I parts for these old tractors, I had a good freind who was a Wheelhorse fanatic, but sadly he passed a few weeks ago. Thanks for any help in advance.
Pullstart 62,897 #2 Posted November 18, 2023 and sorry for your loss of a friend. @grnlark (Matt Castagno on FB I think) makes amazing seats. @BOB ELLISON used to, but has since stopped. I don’t know if @wheelhorseman (Wheel Horse Parts And More) bought that tooling? 2
Pullstart 62,897 #3 Posted November 18, 2023 For headlight stuff, you could try Grey and Katherine @Wheel Horse 3D

They’ll have most of what you need. I’ll be watching to see if someone has a recommendation on the seat. Good luck with the tractor. This is the friendliest internet community around. fourwheelhorseman 279 #5 Posted November 18, 2023 Thanks guys I’ll check these guys out. Meanwhile I did find a parts tractor near me.. so I’ll be looking at that if it’s still available, my plan is to put a snowblower on this old wheel horse and put it back into service. The deck shell is good, but all three of the mandrels are froze. So I doubt I mow with it for now.
ebinmaine 67,516 #6 Posted November 18, 2023 I see our new friend @Maz91 Mike has you well sorted out. He's learnin' fast. Being a C Series with a hood ornament likely makes it a 1974 or 75. Good news there is that the mowing deck from a large number of other models will fit that. Headlamp lenses can be had on the fleeeeBay for 50 ish dollars or less. What's the engine in your tractor? If ya need a to-do checklist we've got a decent one posted.
fourwheelhorseman 279 #7 Posted November 19, 2023 (edited) It is a 1974, it has a 16 hp kohler. I have the original owners manual and all the neat paperwork that came with it.. even the WheelHorse quality check yellow tag and sales brochure.. the documentation is probably worth more than my whole tractor! Lol Edited November 19, 2023 by fourwheelhorseman 2

Lol Sounds durn close to "Apples" 1974 16hp c160 (but auto rather than 8 speed)...great tractors and I'd say the most desirable of c series 1

Lol Having been a collector of these fine tractors in the past you may already realize.. That C160 is considered a holy grail for many folks. That's an awesome gift on the part of your friend and quite a find for you. The mid 70s are my own personal favorites overall. I have six of those 1974/5 C160s. 2 Kohler engine 8 speeds. 1 Kohler engine Automatic transmission. 3 Tecumsehorses. And to have the paperwork. WOW. 3
