JimSraj 437 #1 Posted November 15, 2023 I’ve been using an e tank to clean up various metal parts for a while. Latest is wheels from a 1267 that were pretty nasty. What you’d expect from a set of rims over 50 years old. Check out the buildup on the anodes. The wheel has had some wire brushing (manual) after it came out of the tank where it ‘cooked’ for a few days. wish I had taken pictures before. 5

Grease and oil on the part will slow down the electrolysis by coating the anodes. I try to get that stuff off before dunking. Also, a quick wire brush on the anodes to remove all that crud rejuvenates them!
ebinmaine 68,452 #4 Posted November 15, 2023 BBT n I just recently set one up. It isn't finalized yet but seems to work excellent.
JimSraj 437 #5 Posted November 15, 2023 The anode pictures were from the second wheel first trip thru the tank. I had cleaned them up once after the first wheel was done. The crude comes right off and yes, it definitively rejuvenates the process. I’m on the look out for a more powerful charger to speed it up though. Tough to find manual chargers anymore.

No need for a manual charger. Use an AC to DC converter as a power source. Copy/paste this into the jungle site and you should find it: "AstroAI AC to DC Converter, 8.5A /102W/110V to 12V Converter, Car Cigarette Lighter Socket AC/DC Supply Adapter Transformer for Mini Fridge, Car Fan and Other Devices Under 102W"

I do a general scrape of of the heavy stuff. I also use a 10am 24v power supply that really helps it cook. It rarely draws over 5 amps. As others, I wire brush the anodes as needed.
gt14rider 798 #8 Posted November 16, 2023 Had this for my frame and bigger parts, worked good, used rebar for anode.
