Would it be easier for you to cut/stretch/paste the older hood instead?

The 520 hood is about 3" wider and 2" taller in the rear to meet the dash.   Im not good at making and fixing body panels so Im not for sure either.  If I can make this work then cool I saved 2 bent hoods from going tot he scrap yard.   If it fails im not out anything.      I do wish I had people near me who had parts lol.   Wheel horses are not common around here.   Seems like 1.5 hours south or 1.5 hours north that availability gets better.

Yepp same here.  

We use USPS and other freight service for most of our parts.

Lets try posting in the right thread this time.

 

 

Im pretty sure this is a 16hp or at least a set of 16hp tins.    Ive also decided to keep the lift are on this.   It folds down out of the way and ive got a plow id like to use for some driveway work.   Nothing wrong with working your toys. 

 

 

I mocked with rivets as I dont have a good welder here.  Once its right ill take it to my brothers.  Hes got a nice mig.   Based off the general shape i think it'll turn out pretty good. 

 

 

The hardest steering wheel ive ever had to remove.   Looks like the part in teh wheel was some sort of alloy.   Bimetal not goodness.    New steering wheel should be here today.

I also am thinking about converting everything to 4 lug as well.  Golf cart wheels are cheap as are 14" atv wheels and tires.   Almost half the cost of buying new.   Live axle and bearing hubs are also cheaper than I can gett eh 5 lug for.    Lots of thoughts.

I converted to 5 x 4.5 only because I wanted the ability to swap wheels around front to rear if needed.  

That's come in handy more than once for transport down the road or to raise the front end up.  

 

If you're intending to leave the fronts where they are like most folks would that price is a good one.

Id like to run the same size front and rear but don't care for a nosed up look on tractors.   I glanced at an axle flip idea but didn't look like it would easily work.

I agree with that to some extent. 

I like a little front rise. Not much. 

 

My Cinnamon Horse C160 is front raised a good strong 6". That's so I can have a LOT of extra clearance for the Mackissic chipper. 

Our land is VERY rough and there are places I couldn't go without it being higher.

What's the saying? Slow progress is better than no progress?    I need to get this rolled out of shop to do some clean up.     She's got a steering wheel.     I went with the high hp model.

Thats what I'm in process of with my tractor as well.....mainly due to the Mackissic chipper.  The main uses for my tractor is snow plowing and using the chipper.  Its all about function in my case.  Fluid filled 20" front tires is the goal.  I'm running 24x12x12 fluid filled in the rear.  That should help with plowing and also give a little more clearance for wood chipper discharge.

That's what I run on my snow plow tractor.  

You'll like that.

Keeping in mind I don't try for acceleration here... I'd think fluid filled tires would be a good option for your usage. 

I know my own snow plow tractor being a Hydro has no issues whatsoever with picking up speed as I'm moving about.  

The fluid moves within the tires so it should be able to get speed quite well. 

The additional traction and stability is very noticable.

I think that's the general consensus.

 

I've done absolutely nothing with this as I've turned to some shop modifications so I can have some heat.     Hope to be back on this next week.    Nice little surprise came in the mail today 😀

Hey, do you have the gauges and lights that go in all those empty holes?

 

 

If not, when I finish my 517-H Frankenstein project, I may have a full set of spare ones that I could sell. Still working on it though and need to do some testing - nothing wired up yet. I'll put them in the Classifieds if I go that route.

The wheel and adapter came off amazon.  I just searched golf cart and it came up.  I had to modify the adapter to fit the WH shaft.    I have the gauges but am not using them.

Ha...sometimes ignorance is bliss.  Reminds me about old BMW motorcycles with the air cooled boxer engines........it is said that no one ever knew they "overheated" until they started putting temperature gauges on them

Very true.    I may do an volt gauge and a oil pressure gauge but thats it.    This is a 520 dash on a 400 series tractor so stuff like fuel level is non existent with this build.

You can use all of the gauges from the 520 very easily, I did on my C165 except the "power gauge".  If you don't have the gas tank, you can still use everything else.

They are similar just skinner than the ones i put on the Colt.    I liked them the little I got to use them on that rig.    Time will tell for sure.
