1997 520h pricing question

Recommended Posts

Looking at getting an idea on pricing for this machine

1 owner

1997 520h.

sold new in 1998

has 224 original hours

paint, tires , etc look brand new

wheel horse wheel weights

has a like new toro 2 stage blower, and a cab

All was dealer installed in 1998 and has never been off the tractor

was used only to snowblower with. Never used to mow

Tractor looks and drives like a brand new one

what is something like this worth?

machine was stored inside all year. Truly a time capsule machine.

Would love to see some pictures of that machine.    If I had the money and was in the market for one, I'd think it's worth at least $1000, maybe more, but as a buyer I'd be trying to get it for less if possible.  This is just my "un-educated" opinion.  I'm sure others may have a better idea.

The tractor alone sold for over $5K  in 1997.      A new cab   $1500 and  dual blower   $2000.

If I owned that tractor,  I would be looking for $3k.

I have a 1500 hour 1988 520H with cab and dual blower that I value at $2K.                Just my :twocents-02cents:

Agreeing with @Ed Kennell that it’s a $3k setup. Anyone offering less is looking for a steal or has no clue.

I appreciate the info. The forum is a great source of help. Thank you all

Im thinking 3k (ish) seems very reasonable. Especially since this machine has lived inside and used only for snowblowing.

224.5 original hours. All original

Key points are as you mentioned but critical to knowledgeable buyers are the low hours, package components, and that it’s never been used for mowing so there is little likelihood of the engine cooling fins being clogged with debris. You should confirm that the foam collar on the engine oil filter is in place and if not, get and install one.

That is the last year for a 520H so it is the newest possible.  The only thing that may hurt the value is the price and availability of parts for the Onan.

I also agree with @Ed Kennell $3000 all day long. Also think we’d all like to see pictures of this set up!

also in agreement with Ed Kennel.

AT LEAST 3K!

you describe a 'mint' shape tractor package.  pics would be nice.

according to google $6,950. in 1997 would equal about $13,255 today.

An Onan with low hours that has never been ran in hot weather should last a long time. If it did fail there are replacement options such as a Vanguard.

I'd love to have that tractor package. Snow removal is all I'd use it for so I don't think I'd be concerned about the Onan.

For 3K I'm ready to hook up my trailer!

Definitely love to see some pics!!

Here is pics of the machine

It sold over the weekend without even "going for sale"

I put out a post on facebook wheel horse group just to get an idea on value (much like i did here)

I had a local guy offer 3k cash for it, and it sold

Long story short, I brought it to him , he handed me the cash as soon as it was out of the enclosed trailer. One look and he knew it was a good one

But, in talking with him (i sold him some wheel horse parts in the past) he showed me his collection of 5xi series tractors.......

well, I ended up buying a 522xi from him, and a nice wheel horse wagon!!!

I expected to come back with alot of cash, but ended up coming back with some cash, and another tractor w/ wagon

He was really happy with the the 97 520H, and so far i really like the 522xi. Power steering is nice, kohler vtwin power.

Only downfall of the 5xi tractor i dont like, is the all my attachments for my older wheel horse machines wont fit.....otherwise I like it alot!!

It’s no wonder that guy was happy, that whole set up looks new! I’d say that’s definitely worth the $3000 he paid. Hopefully he takes as good care of it as its previous owner did. @JCM will like this, I’m sure!

It was clean! Garage kept since new. Being that it never had a mower deck, the underside was spotless

Ill probably regret selling that one.

Whats crazy is that tractor was delivered from the dealer just how you see it. The cab, blower, weights and chains have been on it since it was delivered. Never been removed ever!

A real time capsule
