ATractorDood 0 #1 Posted August 19, 2009 Hello to everyone here... Im the new guy here ( hence me posting in the intro thread).. I live in the nw corner of Ohio.. im 45/male... Yes, I am here because I bought an old Wheel horse garden tractor of course & this is something I have been wanting to do for sometime. This is my first restore job and Im just starting.. I plan on posting some before pics next time im on here and Im also glad to find a forum/family full of similar interested people concerning tractors.. the tractor I found seems to be an really solid shape with all the decals and guards along with a good mower deck.. I also drove it and it hit all the gears and ran surprisingly strong I see I can buy new decals from a website so im offing the old and in the process of sandblasting/primering/ & painting some of the body parts now I have a question for anyone out there who could maybe help me now ( if there is a thread for help I can go there to and will).... UMMM.. what year is my tractor..lol. the model is ::: T 605 The serial is:::: 133206... it says 654 on the side guard... it has a Tecumseh motor in it.. the numbers are HH70 - 140051c & the serial is 91839..... I think its a 7 horse.. It has a 3 speed forward and reverse tranny and a uni-drive rearend.. the guy I bought it from said it was a 1953 but I think he is off some and im guessing from other pics I have see and searched for maybe its a 1963/64/65? well thats it for now.. except that if all goes well with my restore I may be on a hunt to find some attachments that would fit it.. thanks and peace out Friends

Coadster32 793 #6 Posted August 19, 2009 :thumbs2: A 654 is a 6 hp motor with electric start, made in 1964. Not too sure, as you're seems to have a 7hp motor on it. The HH on the motor tells you that it's a cast iron block, not aluminum sleeved. They were known as the heavy duty blocks. A nice machine. I sold one a few months back, and currently own a 854. Same year but with a Kohler 8hp motor with starter/generator. Good luck with it. It's a nice tractor. I'd suggest and in-line fuel filter. Tecumseh motors get a little finnecky at times. A little extra pro-active steps usually work well.

linen beige 14 #10 Posted August 20, 2009 A 654 is a 6 hp motor with electric start, made in 1964. Not too sure, as you're seems to have a 7hp motor on it. Uh,... His model # tag says T 605. That's a '65. The tractor in his avatar looks like a '65. Me thinks the 654 belt guard came from a donor when the original engine was changed out.

I jumped at the belt guard after re-reading it. :thumbs2:

Brrly1 1,146 #15 Posted August 20, 2009 Hello Tractordood Alrighty then you say NW Ohio, May I ask where as ther are quite a few Wheel Horse people out there in NW Ohio. Marv in Defiance, Steve in Monclova, Andy also in Monclova, Carl in Swanton, myself in Toledo plus a whole bunch more, fingers are tired and not enough rom to list them all. This is a great forum. Nine time out of ten you can post a question and usually have an answer a very short time later. TT is basically the guy you want to ask any questions to and like I say he usually has an answer. There are alot of vendors here to help you with any replacement parts, oils ect; All you have to do is ask? Enjoy your stay See Ya, Bye Burly Your friendly neighborhood sawman :thumbs2:
