Just getting started 22 #1 Posted November 8, 2023 I am having a hard time finding rims for my 26x12x12 Deestone 408D tires. I was Looking for used first and now even having hard time findind new. At first I thought the rim size should be 12x10.5 and those are almost impossible to find. Then I was told I could use 12x8.5 so now I am really confused,. Can someone help me find the right ones somewhere, somebody must have them. We are going to be putting these on my Raider 9
ebinmaine 67,516 #2 Posted November 8, 2023 The rims from a 520 would work. Those are designed for a 10.5 wide tire and the widest Wheelhorse rim I'm aware of. 26" diameter tire? Although Deestones run small, are you prepared to raise the rear fender? Those might not clear...
Just getting started 22 #3 Posted November 8, 2023 Yes, my grandson and I are already at the drawing board trying to redesign them as we look for rims.
ebinmaine 67,516 #4 Posted November 8, 2023 Take a few minutes and check out some of the posts that are in our Pulling tractor threads. Some pieces of information. If you folks are trying to buy tires that actually measure a full 26 diameter, do NOT buy deestones. They are well known to run very small in actual size compared to advertised size. If you are after deestones because you like the tread design go ahead and purchase them but don't modify the tractor until the tires are mounted AND inflated so you can see what you're really working with. As to modifying the tractor there will be an even more important consideration on some, the the footrest that's forward of the tire..
Just getting started 22 #5 Posted November 8, 2023 OK, thanks for the info. I will definitely check out those threads. Yes, we were looking at the footrest also last night.

I was Looking for used first and now even having hard time findind new. Here is a link to one source for new rims. Important that the offset is correct, other wise they may rub on the inside. You can also get blanks & centers from here. This allows you to weld the center where you want to get the correct off set. https://www.millertire.com/wheels-rims/ One other option is to find 4 rims, cut them apart & weld them back together to get the width that you want. I took four 8.5" wide rims & made two 11" wide rims. Post #48 in this post shows some pictures. Edited November 8, 2023 by Achto 3
Lee1977 6,662 #9 Posted November 8, 2023 (edited) Not all 520 rims are wide the 88 and 89 models had standard 7" rims. What model is your Wheel Horse 1976 and later models are easy to raise the fender. Place a spacer under the fender bracket at the transmission and a cross member and equal spacers under the front gas tank and fender cross member. Like I said above you're going to want to get those installed on a rim before you modify the tractor because odds are good they won't be a full 26-in diameter. Likely you will still have to raise the fender pan a bit. Hopefully you won't have to move things fore and aft.

littleredrider 409 #13 Posted November 11, 2023 I have 25x12x12 ATV tires on 10" wide wheels on my 520 diesel, never measured but they fit under the fenders. They are a V-tread type, and the center of the lugs are inline with the edge of the fender. I have pics somewhere here, if not I can get em off my phone. Also, I got the rims/blanks from Miller tire, great stuff!!
Just getting started 22 #14 Posted November 12, 2023 I just received my tires finally Friday after FedEx delayed shipment twice and changed tracking once. These are some nice tires but I can tell all ready that I will have to be ordering blank rims and centers and welding them in myself. Thanks for your info, I would like to see the picture of your diesel, maybe I will come across it here.

Is there a thread or pics of your setup?

Lee1977 6,662 #21 Posted November 13, 2023 You order what you want. I would not worry about the back set to much as there is plenty of room on a Raider. Here is a picture of my Raider 12 with 25 x 10 x 12 on a 8 1/2" rims with a 3 1/4" back set.
kpinnc 12,064 #22 Posted November 14, 2023 You can always add 5x4.5 spacers as well, if you need additional back spacing.

There's a thought too. @Just getting started I keep a list of required parts to add spacers in my notes. If you need that send me a PM.

ebinmaine 67,516 #25 Posted November 15, 2023 9 hours ago, Just getting started said: I just got a chance to measure the width and it looks like 11 1/2". With a tread that wide any rim between 10.5 and 11.5 would be fine. You could even go a little wider but it might make the tire look bulbous. The tire manufacturer or seller may have recommendations on rim sizes.
