cmyoch 35 #1 Posted November 7, 2023 I'm working on my Raider 10 over this coming winter to have it ready to mow next spring. I want to verify that I have all the parts necessary to mount the 36 inch deck underneath. My manual that I downloaded has an explanation on how to mount the deck but no illustrations for me to reference. I can see how some of the mounting points are situated. I am missing a 8 in bolt that is used on the mounting bracket but that's a simple trip to the hardware store. I'm more interested in what brackets are for what components underneath. I took a few pictures today. Can anyone here offer some simple advice if I am missing anything to make this work? I will be ordering a PTO drive belt once the deck is mounted. The machine has not moved in over 6 months so please disregard the cobwebs. Rear attachment point? J Hook type attachment to the lift lever? Front attachment point to the lift frame? Not sure what attaches to this front bracket? This attaches to the lift lever?

daveoman1966 3,751 #3 Posted November 7, 2023 The cross bar you have in the hitch (first pic) s/b mounted to the front leveler bars ON the deck. The cross bar I refer to has a FORK on it that MUST be aligned correctly for the deck to work right. This is the same setup for 36, 42, and 48" decks, except for models of pre 1973. Here is a 42" deck...exact same configuration as the 36" deck you have...(though the gage wheel bar is a bit different)
76c12091520h 3,615 #4 Posted November 8, 2023 If I'm seeing things correctly here, you're attempting to put a later deck that is equipped with the attach-a-matic system onto an earlier tractor that does not utilize the attach-a-matic system. Everything is different. You would either need to upgrade the tractor / convert to the newer style hitches, lift, and mule drive ( you're best bet ) , or locate and install an older deck that has the older style mule drive and the other misc. pieces that you're missing.
Ed Kennell 38,146 #5 Posted November 8, 2023 That deck will not work on your tractor unless you add a mid and front attach-o-matic, a front mule drive, and a Tee bar lift rod to your tractor. Or get an old style deck that uses the side drive swing arm system that your tractor is designed to use.
daveoman1966 3,751 #6 Posted November 8, 2023 I have made a .pdf file for ANYONE to convert the old side-belt drive for 1972 & prior tractors. The file name is: MULE DRIVE UPGRADE.pdf . Instead of buying an adaptor bracket, all one needs to do is drill 3 holes int he hood hinge plate to mount the front Tach-o-Matic hitch, then attach the mule drive into that hitch. This pic is a Raider 10 from a few years ago. MULE DRIVE UPGRADE.pdf 2

Part of my refresh will be sharpening or replacing the blades, replace the deck belt, and giving it a good clean/lube.

Oh, I had no idea that the deck is not matched with the machine. My uncle purchased it this way. Now, I don't know if he purchased it with the deck installed and he removed it or if it came already removed. There is an ID tag on the mower deck. I'll look it up to see what it is matched to. cmyoch 35 #10 Posted November 9, 2023 I found an ID tag on my mower deck. I think it says 36MR01-34006. I'll have to look this up to see if I can find what this deck is originally from
daveoman1966 3,751 #11 Posted November 9, 2023 The complete model # for that deck is: 05-36MR01. When searching for parts, that number MUST be in that exact format...including the hyphen. You can find schematics of the deck at this website. https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro&lang=us_en
cmyoch 35 #12 Posted November 9, 2023 I can see that on the tag now that I look closer. I should have done a better job cleaning that serial tag. This deck had to have been installed on this machine at one time which makes sense why some things don't look quite correct from the original manual copy that I have. There were two things that i questioned on the machine. One is a turnbuckle attached to a spring that would add extra tension to the idler pulley down in front of the tractor. The other is the added vacuum driven fuel pump which I thought these machines were gravity fed for fuel. I'm not sure the reason for that but I may find out as I start using the mower. I grabbed the deck belt and spun it around a few times. Everything seems to move quietly and smoothly. I can't wait to get it back together and test it out.
