Dash panel ready to install. Back side of dash panel showing upper bearing and low oil pressure warning light (bottom right). Closeup of bearing for upper steering shaft. This is simply a wheel bearing installed after opening up hole so it would fit. Dash panel installed. Washers slid up shaft and cotter pin installed to hold upper steering shaft tight into bearing. cleat 5,932 #79 Posted November 17, 2023 Wire harness getting ready for install. This is a simple harness modeled after the 520HC with only a low oil pressure light. Also the voltage regulator on the engine is wired directly to the start solenoid again as per 520HC 9 Pin is a somewhat sealed unit that I have on all of my 520's Fuse holders are sealed as well. The purple wire is for the clutch switch. I will finish that once everything is installed to get the proper length and take-off point. cleat 5,932 #82 Posted November 18, 2023 Lift assembly ready to install. Lift assembly installed. I ran into a glitch where the rockshaft hit the steering gear. It then dawned on me that with reduction steering a shorter rockshaft is required. Luckily I had one although not in as good shape as the one I was going to use but it will work. cleat 5,932 #86 Posted November 22, 2023 (edited) Feeling a bit better today so I ventured out to the shop for a bit. Rear lift tube and clamp ready to install. Fender bracket assembly and lift tube installed. Dipstick and tube ready to install. Dipstick and tube installed. I used this thread sealant on the two bolts for the lift tube clamp and also for the dipstick tube. Trying to keep as much water as possible out of this transmission. Overview as of today. A rear fender sat on to align bolt holes for proper front fender bracket placement. I set the clip and washer on the outside so I can just get the washer and cotter pin installed on the inside. The hood and fender will be painted with the Specialty Coatings paint. I get these at Peavey mart (who bought out Tractor Supply here in Canada). Many spray can paints will readily chip. There's little to no hardener in them. Best you can do when spraying that is a coat so light it doesn't even fully cover. Sort of a mist... Multiple times. Few things come to my mind reading this. First, temperature is a big factor. Not only your paint/spray(can) has to have the right temperature but also the workpiece you're painting aswell as the room you're painting in. Second the quality of paint varies a lot between the diy-store and the specialized paint shop. At least overhere where I live (Netherlands, Europe). Whenever I want to (spray)paint something which HAS to turn out great I go straight to the paint shop. Less critical parts I paint with the DIY stuff no problem but when it matters I'll take the pro stuff everytime. The difference is exactly what you described, paint goes on thicker, is less runny and/or sticks better to the surface, the shine is much deeper and the color is bright as can be. As an example here's a picture of the wheels on my Murray to IH 1468 project. The grey is just DIY store paint but the IH red was mixed and 'bottled' by my local paint shop.
