Time to reset your biological clocks to winter mode. 

 

Makes little sense to me but I am sure someone knows why this is necessary.

Yes. 

It passed unanimously in the Senate.  

Went to a House Committee and stalled. Two years running!!

If there were a bunch of lobbyists with deep pockets pushing the idea of remaining on standard time it would have been done a long time ago.

Now if only I could convince our cat that the clocks have been reset I could have slept in an extra hour.

When I was working, I had some projects going with a vendor who was located in South Bend.  They didn't go on daylight savings time.  Was interesting, as I was working out of Michigan, which is in a different time zone.  1/2 the year, the vendor and I were on the same time, the other 1/2 year, we were an hour off.

Rub some dirt on it you guys and get back in the game!!!    I hate the change as much as any of you, but at least I can go to bed now and it is dark out !!!  I've waited 6 months to be able to crawl in bed and it is dark outisde.  I've always had this theory that we were a hybernating species...this time of year proves that... I"ll see you in the spring when we lose an hour.    R.I.P.

Until 2006 Indiana didn’t observe daylight savings time. They (mostly) stayed on Eastern Standard Time all year.  When it was changed in 2006 there was some genuine bitterness at the governor of the time for “taking away” an hour of the day.  It was entertaining, but somewhat frustrating that it was so hard to explain to people that the days still had 24 hours. 
 

The reason for the change was exactly what you pointed out…it was difficult for business since people didn’t know that the heck time it was in Indiana.
 

Not all of Indiana is on the same time zone, however.  There are a handful of counties in the northwest and southwest corners that follow central time to stay with  neighboring Illinois and Kentucky population centers.  It adds some fun and confusion at times.

When I graduated from college, I took a job with Marathon Pipeline Company as a pipeline engineer in Martinsville, Illinois. The pipeline stretched over most of the eastern US and, of course, that included Indiana. Since Indiana was not consistent with their time, everybody in the company used what we called pipeline time based out of the Eastern District office in Martinsville. It worked OK.

I've done phone and internet based jobs in the past. 

It is not complicated.  

If a customer or vendor isn't available, you wait til they are. 

 

This time change is trash. It wasn't valid when some buffoon decided to enact it and it's even less so now in a 24/7/365 world. 

It's TIME for keeping TIME the same all year. 

I couldn't possibly care less what zone I'm in. 

Just. Stop. Changing.

This time of year we only have so many hours of daylight so it doesn't really matter if it comes an hour earlier or an hour later.

Yup, the days get pretty short. But better having that light in the morning so the kiddies don't get run over going to school in the dark.

We're on regular time now but I prefer the time change come spring when the days get longer because I don't want to work in the heat during the summer. It only takes a day or 2 to acclimate to the changes so not a big deal to me. 

I still don't know what I'm doing living this far north of the equator. The older I get, the more I can't stand winter. Maybe a snowmobile or something, IDK

Exactly.  

Whether we start work in the light or dark we finish up in the dark or light.  

Still ain't enough time in the day....

We didn't actually gain an hour, we just redeemed the hour that we put in a non-interest-bearing savings account last spring, sort of like getting a tax return that was your money all along.

I guess the schools couldn't set the best hours for them and leave the rest of us alone?
