2 stage blower hook up

Recommended Posts

littleredrider

I found a 44"

2 stage near me, but never messed with one, so not sure what I need. I've had the single stage, just need the flag n tube, but what do I need for the 2 stage? Going on a 520 if it matters.

We recently picked up a two-stage snow blower from another Redsquare member for the tractor we are building for Trina's friends.

I saved this video aside to help me connect it later.

Not my video. No idea if it's another Redsquare member or not. Credit to the maker.

Notice, that is part 2.

If you go on their channel you can easily find part 1. This was the half that told me what I needed to know.

A deuce uses a whole different lift system. Hopefully it has the lift bar which is different than a single. You need to download the manual. It goes through the install on tractor & study the IPL to identify what parts may be missing.  Certain missing parts brings the price way down. Very common to mount one on a 520.

Looking at that vid, in the manual, then back to the ad pics, it does look like missing some pieces. Are they available or PITA to find? I can share the pics from the ad...

Lift bar is made of unobtainium and would be a deal breaker if missing. Looked long and hard for one with no luck. Finally had a copy made. With the shape that one is in I would pass. Yes parts can be had but a pita. Better ones come along often.

Totally agree with @WHX?? nice complete ones come along now and then for a fair price. Then all you have to do is hook it up and blow snow. I have one, it’s one of my favorite attachments. If the moisture content of the snow is just right it will blow snow up to the phone wires! Mine is on a 417-A.

Got that right Don. Slushy concrete not so much but cold powder look out.

If your serious about moving snow with one do the mods. Rubber paddles &  auger center support. Not difficult mods & been documented many times here.

Pretty sure the Plunger has got one @JCM maybe he can offer additional advice.

Not a total deal breaker or unobtainium when your a member of RS!!!

I have a spare hanging around somewhere and will send it or a copy for shipping cost if he needs it. Right after I build a copy for the next guy.  There's no rocket science to them but it certainly has a unique bend. Surprisingly not as "beefy" as the SS lift poles.

My 2 stage is all stock @WHX?? . I hope to install it on the 418-A if I can find the time this fall. Probably will not install the cab on it this year and use it after cleanup with the loader tractor the day after a storm when the sun is out and no wind. Some of us know what it's like to get covered with no cab with an open station tractor when it blows back, not much fun.

Got that right 'Fish... tried making one myself but I am obviously not a skilled back yard hammer mechanic. 'Nother member here had a good guy that show reproed them and scored one.

I like the way you guys are putting them on 417s, 418s. Just more common to see them on 520s & such. My C160 ship ever comes in would like to mount one on that just to see what whistles.

Always nice to see those pics Plunge...:handgestures-thumbupright:

Before the cab and using a SS, I'd be covered and crusted with snow and ice. Fun or no big deal when you're 20 or 30 years old, Now, not so much!

I've been think'n about changing mine back to the 418-C. That thing cranked it out with plenty of power. Still believe it has better power than the 20 hp Onan does but it's also something I'm more familiar with. Tried tuning, adjusting, etc on the Onan but maybe I'm just a bit biased. Certainly easier working them Kohlers

Glass windshield is the bomb!!! Easy with an electric wiper and clean the snow off with a switch. Can't do that with plastic

I also use a little Harbor Freight 12v defroster heater mounted on the roof deck, Keeps the glass clear.

The cab is NLA for our 300, 400 and 500 series according to their website. Seems to only be available for the 260, 270 and XT series but a phone call wouldn't hurt. The glass windshield looks to still be available that includes the wiper for hard top cabs at $ 499.00. Contact # 1-800-247-5305. Great people to deal with. @RJC1965   @WHX??      Good luck Boys and happy blowing.

Is that actual glass? Or a lexan or other acrylic?

The glass could be made to order if a GOOD pattern was available.  The factory I used to work for here in Westbrook Maine made any shapes and sold through local glass dealers all over New England.

It is real glass.  You need the entire frame since there is only fabric surrounding the windshield area on the standard models.  I believe that the windshield sold by Original fits many different brands and they come in the frame ready to install.

Granted I haven't been looking here or on market place for WH's, but the 2 stages where I am seem to go for A LOT. So when this one popped up prolly 10 minutes from me I got excited lol. Been lucky past couple years, haven't had that much snow. The single stage works OK, but would rather have the 2 stage, throw it further away from the driveway, so can put more snow, if we get it...I'll look around for a complete one, I don't need it so should be able to find one right??

Yes they fit many different cabs I called them this summer I keep procrastinating on pulling the trigger on this one.
