BPEisenhower 535 #1 Posted October 28, 2023 You never know what you can find in the scrap yard. It's a long story so I won't bore with the details unless you all want a sermon. However, the moral of the story is if I get it running and operating again, it's mine. 2
c-series don 8,687 #2 Posted October 28, 2023 (edited) @BPEisenhower I spent quite a bit of time on one of those, gear driven machines. One thing that I was told about before operating was don’t hold the outside blade lift controls tight in your hands. I found out why when the levers ratcheted back and forth very rapidly. I was told they have broken a few wrists? I have this parts manual you are welcome to, however it doesn’t look like the serial numbers jive. This manual was published in 1957. BPEisenhower 535 #3 Posted October 28, 2023 I would like to get anything on that machine! Send you cash certified mail! Many years ago my uncles owned a blacktop business and I spent many weekends and summers in the seat busting knuckles... Learned quickly to push or pull with force and still smack the glass. This one is a 1959 model and close to the end of that model. I wish it was a pony start but am happy with what it is. Been parked 15 years all because the parking brake failed. 14,520 hours and not dead yet.... Thank you!!

I'm going to prove that CAT can and will run and operate. Everyone that has used it in the past and has known about its problems over its life swears there's no hope and it's a pile of junk. I've already put ATF and Acetone mixed down the cylinders a month ago. I put a three foot breaker bar and got the engine rotating as it should. Pressure tested injectors, all sprayed as expected. The main brakes are weak and parking brake doesn't work. According to MSHA rules, all lights, brakes must work. So, since it couldn't pass inspection years ago, parking it in the scrap yard was the best option. Since then, people have tried to buy, trade, sell their souls to the boss to get it and no go. I told him that I would spend my own money and time to get it functioning again. IF I can get it back to today's code, it's mine and will as a good gesture, maintain haul roads at both facilities for free. Plus, I think it would be fun to run uptown for Dairy Queen or the bank! 2 1

May need to check on the clearance at the bank drive through! If D.Q. has a blizzard you could clear the parking lot.
