JRP 5 #1 Posted October 27, 2023 Hi everyone. I have a 520h that I need to replace the front tires as they are pretty worn. It currently has 16 x 7.50 x 8 tires. Are there any negatives to the tractor performance by replacing them with 16 x 6.50 x 8 tires, which seem generally less expensive and more readily available?
8ntruck 7,018 #2 Posted October 28, 2023 Part of the answer depends on how you are using your 520h. If you have a snow blower, plow, front end loader, or a tiller, smaller tires probably are not a good idea. If you are using it mostly to mow and pull a garden cart around, the smaller tires won't hurt.
kpinnc 12,097 #3 Posted October 28, 2023 (edited) I can show you a direct comparison. The first pic is a 16x6.50-8, the second are 7.50-8 on the same wheel. Apart from the wheel weight, there's not much difference. Side by side you really can't tell. Back when tires actually measured what they claimed to be, it might have been a bigger difference. Now the 7.50 tires are only about 1/4 inch wider each side. Edited October 28, 2023 by kpinnc
JRP 5 #4 Posted October 28, 2023 Thanks so much for your replies, everyone. That info is useful. I primarily use my tractor for plowing and hauling. Not any mowing.
