Wheelhorse#1 1,657 #1 Posted October 27, 2023 I told myself, hold off ! no more for now. The force was just too strong today. I just had to pick up this B-80 8 speeder. Non running and lots of patina -aka Rust ! What’s not to like ? First in line tomorrow morning is a good pressure washing then too see if this old girl will run. 1

Pullstart 62,838 #3 Posted October 27, 2023 (edited) Awesome! I bet a little soap and water wet sanding and that thing would have PURDY popping out of it everywhere! The one I’m sitting on, I wet sanded and buffed and it brought a ton of paint out of the rust that was on it. Retired Wrencher 5,451 #11 Posted October 27, 2023 Wheelhorse#1 I have had many of these. Kept some sold most. Hard to beat these K181`s. Enjoy the ride. Looking forward to seeing more picks when done.

Yes Sir .This is my second b80 other is a 4 speed I use to cut the lawn and yard work, the k181s are a breeze to wrench on and little power houses for their size.
WHX?? 48,815 #13 Posted October 27, 2023 Any idea what year? I have a '73 which is a no name but since a front runner to a B I call her Aunt B. Just had to give it a home for only a franklin... 50 minutes ago, Wheelhorse#1 said: little power houses for their size. Yes Sir! 2

Wheelhorse#1 1,657 #20 Posted October 27, 2023 (edited) Today I gave it a good pressure wash.I think it cleaned up pretty well 👍 Brought it in and tore into it.Had no spark, cleaned up the points, issue solved. Replaced the head gasket, was blown out pretty bad but the cylinder looked great and no piston slop at all 😮 I think I may have gotten lucky on this one. It’s always a crap shoot with a non runner. I think the trans is ok but won’t know for sure until tomorrow once I get it running. Edited October 27, 2023 by Wheelhorse#1 7
oliver2-44 9,740 #21 Posted October 28, 2023 That’s a great compression reading! I would think a 1976 k181 would have the compression release cam. So how did you get an engine compression reading? School me! 3 hours ago, Wheelhorse#1 said:

I guess its just like balance gears, some had them, some didn't.
