I need a new locking throttle cable but when I enter 856 it always gives me a 43 in cable but mine only measures 33 inches

Not sure where you are entering the tractor model number.
Try getting into our manuals section to get the part number for the throttle cable.

Likely you'll want to trim the replacement cable(s).

A "Z" bender and good pair of wire snips will work fine.

Those are fairly easy to shorten and rebend - cut the new cable Z off and remove the inner cable to cut the outer sheath and not damage the cable. Reinstall the inner cable, lightly lube it before you do - Marvel Mystery Oil works great. Loosely install the shortened assembly BEFORE you do the "Z" bend. Cables have a natural curl to them - mark the direction you want the Z to end up pointing to. Then add the double bend. This allows for better free motion not fighting a twisted cable. Practice on the part you cut if needed. Not having a "Z" bend tool, I have used the choke lever from a scrap carb as a mandrel with excellent results.....

These tractors are getting up into there in age. The companies that make the new parts try to make them fit several models. For throttle & choke cables you will most often have to trim the new cables to fit your application.

I would also suggest drilling and adding a small roll pin on the throttle cable handle as well. It makes the locking function last much longer.
