JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,497 #2 Posted October 14, 2023 How is the plate where the trans bolts to the frame? When I did my 854 many years ago, it had a big crack/split in it. My friend welded a piece of 1/4 inch steel over the whole area. Dam, she was sturdy after that. It was the first tractor I did, I had a big thread about it every step of the way. Your picture brought back memories. Best of luck. 2

peter lena 8,631 #5 Posted October 15, 2023 @Bodean agree with @ri702bill on that plate , grease the INSIDE of that shift boot , so it moves easily , add a TYE WRAP , ABOVE THE BOOT , ON THE SHAFT , makes them last , also looking at the opportunity for improved wiring , linkage set ups ? improve as you go , eliminate / change problem areas , like LUCAS climbing gear lube , very good change , Pete
ri702bill 8,326 #6 Posted October 15, 2023 Looks really nice so far. As Glenn mentioned, reinforcing the "F" plate with a piece of hot rolled steel & longer bolts is the way to go. I added bolt in braces to stop the flexing and welded in the plate - years ago. No issues. 3

Handy Don 12,232 #8 Posted October 15, 2023 I keep thinking that a cool project would be making wheel spacers that include disk brakes. The ATV brake sets (mechanical and hydraulic) are pretty reasonable in price. One pedal for both would be fine but separate would be even cooler. @wallfish, @kpinnc? I know that @Oldskool did separate brakes for his Hiram.

The manual shows 1.5 qts, but 6 speeds are spec’d for 2 qts and it’s virtually the same case. I always do 2 qts just because.
peter lena 8,631 #15 Posted October 26, 2023 @Bodean have a lot of accumulated hours on that TYE Warp shifter hold , the 3 of them work seamlessly ,greased the INSIDE OF THE BOOT , put it down on place , secure wrap ABOVE BOOT , NOT ON RUBBER , ON METAL SHAFT , works well , pete
