Tractor prices have been heading lower

 i know that there is ebb and flow with market conditions, but I have been seeing bargain 520 and c-160 prices more common. I recently saw a c-160 like model on a place other than here that was close by, but i did not get a chance to see it as I was still on a medical tether getting care. i say c-i60 like model because it was a series of numbers like 4455 or somesuch .Tractor had the k series engine clearly a sixteen HP and came with a decent looking deck and pusher blade. i called my buddy Jay and told him for the $250 ask , he better hustle after it. i really do not know if he did.

  I also have been seeing 520s and such lower than I can remember as well as the D series..My theory is that people experiencing paycheck to paycheck living are increasing in number.

You even are seeing a lot more older trucks like square bodies and especially big blocks than you did before. we used to see this a lot in new trucks when fuel prices hit records.

i am not claiming expert status on this, but it seems to be trending this way one county next to indiana and 90 miles North of the Ohio River.

 Tell me what you are seeing out there and what you think. 

     Edit:  Jay and I ran up to buy Bob Ellison's tractor in MI.  Bob was very nice to deal with and included his "last seat"   I got super lucky buying my first C-160 that did not start and another one shortly dropped in to keep it company. The tractor described above was listed for only two days and was gone

I'd say advertised prices have been steady to maybe increasing a bit in SE Michigan... But, that doesn't mean that's what they actually get for them... This is based on viewing CL only...

 

Regarding trucks, this is the land of big 3 corporate leases... still a lot of really new really decked out lease trucks without a scratch in the bed...

Here in NC they are stuck on stupid, even though they are as rare as I've ever seen. 

 

The prices went up years ago and stayed there.

Prices here in New England are high and climbing every day. I blame a few people who have driven prices sky high so now even people with none running tractors think they are sitting on gold.

There is a very rusty 42SD deck on Craigslist here for $599. Granted most folks see it and chuckle at something that silly, but folks "less seasoned" in this see that and think thier grandfather's tractor that is growing green stuff on it in the woods should be worth $1,000. And so on and here we are. 

 

Occasionally there are fair deals online, but they are rare these days.

I have a C-160 Auto with a 48" deck and a snowblower that I've been asking $500 and not even a single inquiry. I figure the engine and transmission should at least be worth that? 

 

As far as the overall prices I think it depends on what you have honestly. I've seen some tractors with crazy asking prices and some that were bargains and I can't have them all lol

That's a fair price in my mind, if it runs and drives. It would sell here for sure in NC.

About four years ago I picked up five WH. In a matter of a few months from decent running to complete but had been sitting for various amounts of time. It was almost like I was helping people out giving them something for them. That has definitely changed, still many around but prices high, if they're getting asking not sure.

Big $ trucks all over, but older ones also, 2006 Dodge in my driveway.

Around my area the used truck prices are either under 4 grand or over 15 grand, nothing in between. 

 

I am gonna stick to my 98 and older Silverados. I can still work on them a bit and I I can afford them. 

 

I would much prefer and nice squarebody chevy, but those have become stupid money!!

I just saw a listing for a C160 at three hundred. Rebuilt deck and original paint tractor with appropriate patina for three hundred ask. It has the split back seat that I like 

  In Indiana close to Indiana Wesleyan University.

   There are some small holes drilled in the hood. Other than that the sheet metal is straight.

   It runs and mows well. But hunts until it warms up.  A few years back I did not see anything like that for less than 500. That's two in the last two weeks

It's a "Seat King" but embroidered with Snapper on it. I have two of them, and they are very nice.

 

But the bolt pattern is wrong. You have to make an adapter.
